Back to 2009

Sept 4 - Great Falls. Utility #1 with glove #2. 1 pt heeling with a .5 pt front, lost 1 pt on 2nd article because he tripped as he picked up the right article so he rechecked, lovely turns on articles, nice fronts, sloppy glove turn, nice front, after judge went over him on moving stand he stopped about 2/3 way back to scratch and lost 5 pts. Nice directed jumping - turn and sits could've been a little better. Only one to Q so 1st place for 4 pts with 190 - would have been 196 without weirdness.

Sept 3 - Great Falls. Utility #6 with glove #3. Cookie about 30 mins prior, did heeling pattern and #3 glove turn for warmup. Nice turn to glove & front, I thought 1/2 point finish, best heeling yet - just started to forge on slow at end and one wide about turn. Maybe wanted to drive by but just had a 1 pt front. Second turn and sit on directed jumping was slowish and walked in on moving stand, nice articles. 196.5 1st for 2 pts. Didn't take anything off on gloves, 2 on signals, .5 on directed jumping, .5 on moving stand, .5 on 1st article and 0 on 2nd article.
Sept 2 - Attention work in Great Falls building, mostly moving, rewarding when he offered cute attention. Match - did directed jumping, moving stand and heeling/signals in first run - moved a little forward on go back sits and moved both front feet towards judge on moving stand, which I corrected. Didn't want to give attention, gave correction then cheese - really nice heeling didn't drop, repeated, then released to cat food in bowl after finish. Did stays between runs - he was on the far end and might have moved his front feet towards the entrance but if he did it was minor. Second run did heeling/signals, articles and gloves, which went fine.
Sept 1 - Cedar City rest area. Heeling starts and abouts for jackpot, then glove turns and a go back to hotdog in bowl. Later at UT/ID border, heeling with signals, glove turns, more heeling with release to bowl. Still later at ID/MT border, glove turns, heeling and signals for dinner, then go backs for dinner, then a pattern and signals for dinner.

Aug 31 - Little bit of attention work out front.
Aug 30 - Heartwell. Did heeling, signals, moving stand and directed jumping in ring. Needed correction at beginning of heeling even tho I gave him a treat at set up. Did more heeling in other ring later with Carl calling - better. Heeling, go back, moving stand and turns out front for dinner. Worked on him waiting to start heeling on moving stand until I start moving.
Aug 28 - Gilroy match. Warm, gave Go cookie prior to Open #1, maybe a little late. Needed attention corrections then improved and released to bowl. Nice figure 8, tried to hit dumbbell fronts, almost cut broad. Utility #1 - heeling started with OK attention, improved, good slow, released to bowl. Driveby on signals, repeated - I think even then he wanted to driveby to where bowl had been. Tried to hit article fronts, retrieved glove of dog in next ring, forge on start of moving stand, repeated. Nice directed jumping. No real warmup before either ring. Stopped at park in King City, did some heeling with release to hot dog on tailgate - needed correction at start, nice after. Did signals with my back to tailgate. Heeling for dinner at Jacks.
Aug 26 - Short heeling pattern in front yard ring for jackpot, two fronts with glove.
Aug 25 - Some fast finishes in house. Yorba - hot and humid. Heeling starts & fast finishes for cookie, then up while I worked Proxy. Heeling, glove turns for treats then full pattern with signals for jackpot on chair. Retrieve over high jump, two retrieve on flat, broad.
Aug 24 - For dinner, Rick called pattern. I released him to bowl at start, after a couple of stepps and after an almost complete pattern. Did some fast finishes to bowl too.
Aug 23 - Faster finishes. Wendy - warm up with finishes, little heeling. Then food on chair and did directed jumping, moving stand, glove turns and heeling in ring, then release to chair. More heeling and signals, slows and abouts. Agility. Finishes for dinner.
Aug 22 - Reno. Worked signals on flexi to work on no drive by. Utility 1 with glove 3. Turned right instead of left on heeling and lost 3 points and judge nicked most of his finishes for being too slo suposedly so 2nd place with 190? for a point. He worked well tho, tried to hit fronts and heeling was better.
Aug 21 - Reno. Worked little heeling, signals, fronts and finishes before going in. Utility 1 with glove 1. Heeling was OK but not attentive, signals were fine until he did a drive by. Rest pretty nice, ended up with 189 and Third, would have been 2nd for a point without drive by.
Aug 20 - Worked heeling, moving stand, signals at site, fronts, finishes and heeling in room.
Aug 18 - Front with dumbbell for melatonin - held bowl at waist and kept moving until he looked up. For dinner out front did heeling, which needed 2-3 attention corrections at the start because he was staring at the front door, then glove turns, a moving stand and heeling, then heeling. Bowl was inside on kitchen counter. For cheese snacks later, held cheese at about his eye level, had him move forward to take dumbbell and keep moving while I held dumbbell, then took it and told him to get it. Worked?
Aug 17 - Butterfield. Cookie for a go back and a little moving attention. Later did articles, one glove, heeling, signals and one moving stand Stays.
Aug 16 - Off set chair fronts with dumbbell. Wendy - gave cookie for a stationary Yes, one heeling start and two straight recalls, then down next to chair while I worked Teaz. Runthru - nice directed jumping and moving stand, really tried to hit fronts on articles and gloves, heeling and signals great. Retrieve over high jump with offset throws, retrieve on flat near jump, one drop on recall and one straight recall, broads with dumbbell for target. Wendy called a pattern and attention & heeling were both great but I am still not doing abouts in place. For dinner did one go back with sit, glove turns and dumbbell fronts holding the bowl at about my waist.
Aug 15 - Short heeling and one stationary attention for dinner.
Aug 14 - Did heeling for jackpot out front (no ring - mowed today) with bowl indoors, then three straight go backs to bowl with glove turns, one moving stand and a little heeling in between. Did a go back with sit inside later for melatonin, and some more experimenting with "halti" and dumbbell fronts.
Aug 13 - Set up ring out front to do heeling for jackpot. He did not want to give attention so the first half was corrections then praise, 2nd half he came around. Petco - need some corrections to get attention then did fine. Also did one moving stand, couple glove turns and one go back. Stationary and short moving attention for dinner, and a couple of other times afterwards. Fronts, heeling turns. Tried doing dumbbell fronts with a homemade Halti - sort of worked.
Aug 12 - Out front - go back, sit (nice) to Get It, then a straight go back. Yorba - runthru in ring without judge, did go backs to food, moving stand with release back to food, all three gloves, articles, then heeling with releases to bowl on chair. Later Dana called a pattern which was rather nice. For dinner, did go backs, moving stand, glove turns and heeling.
Aug 11 - Heeling out front for melatonin. In front room did heeling turns, fronts with dumbbell, arounds with me stepping to right, a straight go back to bowl and a turn & sit to Get It. Set up a ring out front and did glove turns, a moving stand and heeling for dinner, then two more heeling for dinner - nice.
Aug 10 - Butterfield. Worked in ring without judge except for articles. It was coolish and he was up & trying hard. Second go back had a sloppy turn so corrected and repeated. Nice moving stand, nice gloves #1 & 3 - hit both fronts, same with articles. Heeling was good at beginning and went to great tho I may have been doing too much talking. Did a couple of broad jumps and some more heeling for jackpots later. Did heeling for dinner out front, plus one straight go back and one sit on go back.
Aug 9 - Heartwell. Warmish, left him in car which might have been a mistake. Backwards Utility order, did a Get It on first go back then a nice turn and sit on second one. Wanted to do bar twice for some reason. Moving stand fine, got attention correction for no look on glove #3 but nice turn, articles fine - really tried to hit fronts. Heeling took awhile to get him in the game. Same when we went back in later to just heel. Worked next to car, had same issue but if I have a piece of food with me he will give attention even if I don't give it to him. Experimented with it at home out front and having food on me worked there too, even tho he only got fed back at the bowl. Seems like he is associating safe? pleasant? heeling with my having food on me. In front room worked scoot fronts with dumbbell, glove #3 turns with rod and emphasis on head up, couple of moving stands with treats right away for a solid stop. Wendy - coolish. Broke up a cookie for two moving attention jackpots - I had a piece on me but didn't give it to him until we got back to the chair. Worked glove #3 on flexi for better turn after pick up - I need to remember to say Get In and not Get Back. Did articles and he hit both fronts. Go backs to treats, and moving stand with treats for fast stops. Heeling went very well - did four times and only once did he get pissy about giving attention at Yes. Did signals with releases to treats behind him. For dinner, did moving attention out front - took a couple of ear corrections at start to get him going, then went very well.
Aug 8 - Attention for dinner started slow then was very nice. Did glove turns, then go backs to bowl, then two really turn and sits to bowl. Did one longish heeling pattern which was quite nice.
Aug 7 - WLA match. Open. Warmed up with moving attention about three dogs ahead, then did retrieve on flat - nice front and didn't do finish, retrieve over high jump - tried on front but bumped, nice finish. Then set up for heeling, need to give mild ear correction, then one turn and broke out when he was giving attention to run to jackpot, little more and when he offered attention again, ran to jackpot again. Seemed to work well. Utility - directed jumping OK but uninspired probably because it was hotter and we didn't do any warmup. First finish very forged, both go backs straight and both turns tight - praised the second one. Glove #3, corrected for no response to Yes but still no look, then really poor turn so repeated. Slight hesitation after glove pickup, tried to hit front. Heeling was a little better than Open, seems to be getting the game. Signals fine.
Aug 6 - Short stationary then short moving attention for jackpots, right sided fronts with glove with rods then used a barrier as he didn't seem to be getting that he needs to line up before he gets to me. Double jumps.
Aug 5 - Stationary attention for jackpot, double jumps. Yorba - "runthru" backwards with no treats until jackpot at end, then more moving attention for jackpots. Kinda hot and blah but did try except slow turn after glove pickup and two poor fronts on articles - need to work fronts from the right. Did some more moving attention for jackpots when cooler - better. Glove pick ups on flexi and glove fronts from the right.
Aug 4 - Double jumps out front, a couple of moving attention for jackpots, then inside for fronts and finishes and one more stationary attention for jackpot.
Aug 3 - Set out hot dog pieces in bowl on freezer then did go backs, one drop on recall, one moving stand, glove turns then attention for jackpot, then more attention for jackpots - did quite well. For dinner did 2-3 things before food.
Aug 2 - Wendy. Two cookies then up for 1/2 hour while I worked Proxy. Go backs with treats, then with sits, one moving stand, glove turns. Then food on chair for attention work, started with stationary then did moving - went well. Articles. Later at home, more attention for food.
Aug 1 - Agility - started later so he was hotter. It's the double he's knocking, which he did in Standard. Jumpers I really emphasized jumping the double and he kept it up, was clean but 3+ seconds over time. Worked attention there and for dinner, including Rick poking his shoulder. He is doing this weird head bobbing thing so may need to hold ear for awhile so I can praise a lack of it.

July 31 - Agility. Didn't get to walk Jumpers well due to change in schedule but he ran well & only knocked one bar. Standard he was hotter and slower but did OK, knocked a bar when I hesitated a second because I was briefly lost, otherwise clean. Did some attention for jackpots, mostly moving, very nice with only minor corrections. Attention for dinner went well, less pouting.
July 30 - AM - attention for food, mostly stationary with some moving towards the end. Agility out back, including tunnel/A frame discrimination. Attention for dinner, about 50/50 stationary and moving. Fewer corrections. Did a little stationary attention out back with other 3 swirling and bumping around.
July 29 - Attention for food, mostly stationary. Set up tire, teeter and a jump with A frame out back, and ran a bunch of different ways. Attention for dinner - doing better, needing fewer corrections and I can get my fingers off his ear sooner and longer. Cut up two hot dogs later on and did attention, signals, go backs, and turns for jackpots, and fronts with a dumbell.
July 28 - Attention for food, moving away from where the bowl is, with ear correction for looking away. For dinner did both stationary and moving attention, signals, tight turns and quick sits.
July 27 - Attention for melatonin food with ear corrections.
July 26 - Work for food starts. Did attention with ear corrections for melatonin food and for dinner.
July 25 - Billings. Utility 2, glove 1. Winning class easily with decent score until sit signal which I should have held longer as he started to sit then started to come in. Had done some mild correcting prior in warmup with no treats and was firm and focused thru out (until signals, grrrr).
July 24 - Billings. Work just wasn't there, then on first go back he sat nice but turned and sniffed behind him instead of taking the jump command. Would've been 2nd with about a 190.

Dodger with Big Pod Mariposa Tulips

July 23 - Billings. Sort of rushed into ring as person in front of me was in agiity. Utility 2 with glove 2 - first go back ok, second one a bit of a fade to left and slow sit, moving stand and glove fine, articles he poked me when fronting with first one, heeling was blah. Judge really wacked us but did win for four more points. Took for swim and walk. Worked fronts and finishes in room later, then took for another longish walk.
July 22 - Rest area in Idaho - Yes, heeling, turns, moving stand, signals.
July 20 - Out front - go backs, glove turns, Rick called a pattern and moving stand.
July 18 - Tricities. Did setup and heel with Kathy Moore judging for a cookie with very little warmup - very nice. When she asked me if I was ready, I bent down and looked at him, then said Yes, which worked very well. Did baited go backs with Daryl standing there so worked on him not veering off. Also did baited moving stand. Did articles working on fronts and gloves working on fronts and fast pickup.
July 17 - Downey match. Warmed up with 2 cookies then went into Open about 10-15 minutes later. Up, pushy, engaged thru out - gave a treat as we went to set up for #1 routine and another during heeling pattern. Came close to cutting corner of broad jump, worked on getting it in on inside of figure 8. Utility - didn't have quite as much up as Open but much more than usual. Glove #1 was nice, signals started out with no attention at Yes but when I bent over to get it he re-engaged and did rather well, tho took one step per foot on stand after I left. Signals fines, slight butt out on finish. First go back had sloppy turn and sit but two really nice ones after correction, moving stand he could have stopped faster, and poor finish, articles better fronts than usual.
July 16 - Fronts with dumbbell, rods and cones in front room, worked on reloading Yes while he is standing or moving, go backs to box and white pole.
July 15 - Yorba. Warm with a bit of a breeze. Warmed up with 2 Go Cookies doing heeling and go backs to mat and tree. Rest while I worked Proxy, then heeling, signals, moving stand, go backs, glove turns.
July 14 - Heeling turns and Yes reload in front room, go backs to mat and white pole out front, some heeling, signals, moving stand.
July 13 - Out front. Heeling with hot dog in mouth, worked on left and about turns. Go backs to mat and white pole, one set of signals, one moving stand.
July 12 - Wendy. Warmish at first then a cooling breeze. Gave 2 Go Cookies for backs to mat and white pole, plus a few times when he offered attention. Did some weaves, then rest while I worked Proxy. Then heeling with hot dog in mouth working on turns with rod - up and pushy. Agility.
July 10 - SLO. Three blinds at site before set up. Warmed up with heeling, signals and moving stand for a Go Cookie - may have been not early enough. Utility. Would. Not. Do. Yes. at first but then during heeling he would sort of glace up frequently. Didn't really get sitting on the mat on directed jumping but did get nice tight sits. Ran to candy wrapper first on articles - grass was a little high. Hesitated after glove pick up again. Worked backs to mat and tree later, and glove pickup with flexi. Open - I used hotdogs in mouth and treated up to ring entrance. Very nice heeling, treated 3x during it; didn't use verbal heel command. Rest fine except only crouched on drop on recall and hit leading edge of broad.
July 9 - Proofed Yes with dropped kibble, intro'd go backs to mat and white pole, fronts with dumbbell and rod.
July 8 - Pap club. Worked some heeling, reload of Yes and turn & sits around rings. Gave two Go Cookies and Go Dog but he seemed to get too warm in crate. Utility #3 with glove #1. Articles had one 1 point front, glove he hesitated after pickup plus another off front for a total of one point off, heeling better than usual but with wide abouts and one messy halt for 2 1/2 off, 1/2 pt off moving stand, 2 pts off directed jumping due to go backs not straight. Tied for 3rd and won runoff, 193
July 7 - some fronts at home. Petco - heeling, signals, moving stand. Did some Aframe work out back, then worked left turns with rod inside later, and fast tight turn and sits.
July 6 - Norco. Heeling, signals, moving stand, one go back, glove turns. Did longish go backs to dumbbell on collar to get faster tighter turn & sits. At home did some fronts.
July 5 - Tricities. Worked going into ring and setting up with judge three times, gloves, articles with distractions, go backs, heeling in ring twice. Dana also called a short pattern to signals - very nice, very cute. Also did moving stand three times.
July 4 - Proofed articles and moving stand, fronts, finishes, go backs to box. Prado - long water marks with white bumpers.
July 3 - Rick called a pattern out front and I worked on attention thru out. It was up & down, depending on what distractions were around. Proofed articles inside with rattling bowls and thrown toy.
July 2 - "Reloaded" Yes with distractions, worked on it out front as well, fronts.
July 1 - "Reloaded" Yes, fronts.

June 29 - Missoula. Frustrating. Had a 199.5 going until the last article, when he stared at the ring steward standing in the doorway so had poor turn, then startled at movement when at pile, so ended up with wrong article. Gave Go Dog and cookie later this time, also it looks like if I am comfortable with the judge and chatty, he does better.
June 28 - Missoula. Utility #5 with glove #2. Much better - tried to hit fronts and finishes, tho got hit 1/2 point for one slow finish, good heeling only lost 1 point, nice directed jumping, walked two steps on moving stand but trotted in. 194 & 4th. Gave Go Dog and one cookie but might have been too early. Did "runthru" for warmup in building with extra fronts. Did some "reload" of Yes in room after swimming.
June 27 - Missoula. Nice 1st article, on 2nd he picked up the right one, spit out, picked up and started to com ein, go back and search, spit out, finally picked up the right one and came in. Poor glove #3 turn, crappy heeling, nice moving stand and directed jumping. 188
June 26 - Great Falls. Go Dog and one Go Cookie not long before we went in. "Up" warm-up with happy butt swats for turn and sits, and some fronts and finishes. Fast walked moving stand again but stopped fine, fronts were off particularly when retrieving. 1st place with 194.5 for 4 points. Worked attention ala Michael Ellis at motel after a run amok on grounds. Swimming later, then worked on fronts.
June 25 - Great Falls. I guess the judge just didn't like us, as she nitpicked us to death. He didn't stick moving stand and fast-ish walked to heel, but only 3 pts off. Sniffed mat on one finish, had what looked like one 1 pt finish and a couple of 1/2 point finishes yet ended up with a 190? Worked attention and moving stand in building later. No dinner.
June 24 - Attention heeling for jackpot in northern Utah rest area in am. Stopped to swim on way up. "Runthru" in Great Falls building for jackpot, go backs into baby gates.

Dodger and Proxy hunting squirrels in a Montana rest area.

June 22 - Fronts with dumbbell, and finishes with treat on clip. "Runthru" out front for jackpot.
June 21 - Heartwell. Warmed up with set ups and heeling with breakouts for jackpots when he was doing heads up and looking cute. Then did in ring with Rich - it took a long time for him to get started but once he got it, it went well. Worked go backs to work on turn and sits, glove turns and figure 8 jumping. Wendy - worked on showing him jackpot in bowl on chair, then heeling, getting some, more heeling, getting some, then a sort of runthru and getting the rest. Seemed to work well. Did go backs & jumping over 26" bar, then fig 8 jumps over that bar. Later did another "runthru" for jackpot - pretty.
June 20 - Oxnard match. Open #1 - tried to bait his heeling but he wasn't having it - only gave attention on halts so need to do more work on surprise jackpots while moving in ring. Rest fine - broke up retrieves on flat and over high for fun, didn't do broad or stays. Utility #1 - did more warmup before this than Open and he seemed to have a bit better attitude on heeling. First turn and sit was messy again - need to warm those up. Did glove #2 and did perfect turn, did nice hurry on moving stand so broke out as he came in. Rest fine.
June 19 - Norco match. Agility - worked distance and discrimination. Started distracted and sniffy (there was a pile of treats all over from previous dogs) then did well listening and not getting pissy, tho messed up tunnel/Aframe discrimination. Also didn't stop on dogwalk contact because I threw a toy. Great weaves. Open #1 - heeling wasn't heads up but it was very nice except started to forge at end of slow. Fig 8 he needed help to remember to get in and hurry at first. Rest was very nice except lite bumps on fronts with dumbell and almost cut/ticked broad. No stays. Utility #2 - Slow turn and sit on first go back so corrected. Nice moving stand and glove #1, then did #2 and he kept underturning. Articles fine. Heeling he was so hot that I baited him thru out the pattern.
June 18 - Fronts with dumbell and finishes, both with treat on a clip.
June 17 - Hartwell. Rich put us thru Utility #1. Heeling started well then he started to lose focus so I teased him with food and rewarded when he was re-engaged. One poor front on articles but after a physical correction he tried really hard to hit the rest of his fronts. Did all three gloves with a jump to get it after each one instead of a finish. Put treat on 3rd go back. Yorba - Heeling, working on him giving good attitude and attention for longer periods of time before food. Also did signals, go backs to little table, one moving stand, glove turns.
June 15 - Norco. Hot and muggy. Was only going to work on jumping but as I went to set up he offered attention so worked some heeling, directed jumping, moving stand, signals and an agility 4 jump serpentine.
June 13 - OE match. Hot! Utilty #2, glove #1. Dropped bar again, lowered to 22" and did fine. Put food on second go back, lovely moving stand, a bit of a look around after he picked up the glove but very little mouthing and no sticking. One off front on articles. Heeling started blah so showed and used food to get and reward attitude. Also did Open #1, heeling a little better, rest fine.
June 12 - GSD trial. Coolish out, little warmup due to my bad back. Utility #1, glove #3. Heeling was pretty good because I had him smell the hot dog scent on my hands as we set up. 1/2 point off first article, probably front, 0 pts off second article, 1/2 pt on gloves probably because he was a little sticky, 0 pts on moving stand, then dropped the bar. Sigh. Would've been 197 and 2nd place for 3 pts.
June 9 - Fronts with hot dog on clip at waist and dumbell, finishes.
June 7 - Fronts in front of mirror with and without dumbell, with hot dog in clip at waist. Some arounds with clip on left sleeve, and experimented with moving attention.
June 5 - Bozeman. Warmer. Did heeling, moving stand, turns and short go backs to baby gates. Utilty #3 with glove #1. Started distracted on 1st article then snapped to when he noticed that my left hand still smelled of liverwurst. Lovely heeling except I slammed the halt so no sit, and he forged a bit at end of slow. 192 + 3 pts for no sit. 2nd place.

Andersons Buttercup, near St George, UT

June 4 - Bozeman. Cold, rained on and off. Warmed up with essentially all the exercises. Since the trial started at 5 pm, was able to do go backs into baby gates when we set up at about 3 pm. Warmed up again before we went in the ring. Utility #1, with #2 glove. 2.5 off heeling, slow stop on moving stand and one slow turn & sit on go backs, rest was nickle and dime stuff, 1st for 2 more points. He tried really hard to hit fronts and finishes but didn't appear to like doing heeling first as he was kinda pissy then but up for the rest. It's like he starts pissy until he gets thru one or two exercises.
June 3 - Attention work at rest area in Utah for sausage patty rewards - not bad. Really wants to look when he can hear people. Stopped a couple of times to swim.
June 1 - Norco. Go backs, directed jumping, moving stand with corrections. Did attention work in ring, then Larry called a pattern - went well despite low 70's heat. Broke out about three times for jackpots when he was doing exceptionally well.

May 31 - moving attention for dinner. Outside most of the day and in crate for night.
May 29 - 30 - Stopped several times on the way home for swims and to run amok.
May 28 - Spokane KC. Warmed him up in other rooms where grooming and tomorrows rings are with heeling, attention, moving stand, go backs to baby gates and turns. Utility #3 with glove #3. Started kinda blah with 1/2 pt fronts on articles and one 1 pt turn, as well as a 1/2 point front on gloves. Nice heeling, just forged on slow and lost 1 point but beautiful front and finish. 1 pt on moving stand - maybe didn't stop fast enough?. Lovely directed jumping - lost no points there. Attitude got much better as we went along. 1st place, hopefully for 10 pts if the AKC accepts the moveup.

The Spokane KC logo is a merry-go-round horse for some reason!

May 27 - Some play fetch in small lot next to motel then heeling off lead with pinch on, signals, moving stand, one go back. Did heeling in motel hallway for dinner and for "dessert" of one bite of liverwurst. Short dinner. Did some glove turns and retrieving fronts later.
May 26 - Corning rest area - 2-3 minutes heeling on pinch. Later swam in Klamath Lake then heeling and stationary attention on pinch. Did heeling to halt at barrier at hotel for dinner, then signals, moving stand, fronts and finishes. Short dinner.
May 25 - Norco. Ann called Utility #2 - it was warm and he was blah. Finally got sick of his attitude on heeling and gave him some serious collar corrections, which made him snap to. Also anticipated drop signal again. Did some heeling on pinch at home, which went well. Not cute but watching and trying. Short dinner.
May 24 - Jack & Michelle's place. Rich put us thru Utility #1. It was a little warm and the grass was a little prickly so he wasn't great at heeling but did pretty good except for forging on slow. Sniffed ground and then anticipated drop signal because he wasn't paying attention, rest very nice. Heeled in ring later while others did stays - better. Working on me going a little slower on heeling for better turns. Wendy - agility, weaves, go backs to cookies, moving stands, did some correcting on flexi on "gloves" (used bumper) to fix wide turns. Wendy called a pattern later and he was pissy despite there being obvious food until the end. The heeling is generally clean but not cute.
May 23 - Tricities. Heeling - started a little pissy but got nice fairly quickly, signals, informal drops on recall, long go backs to treats, directed jumping, more heeling in ring, stays with piece of PVC to keep front feet in place on sit and no roll of butt on down, retrieve over high jump and broad with long throws of bumper for speed.
May 22 - Agility match. Worked on cute attention going into ring and keeping it. Two agility runs.
May 20 - Yorba. Heeling, one moving stand, signals in box, directed jumping, gloves, left turns, two tracks one with a turn, stays, broads with bowl with treats to get speed.
May 19 - Heeling out front for dinner, fronts and finishes inside later for kibble.
May 18 - Heeling out front for breakfast ham and some kibble. Went to Petco and did some really nice heeling, one set signals, one moving stand. Later did attention heeling out front for dinner, one set of signals and one go back to last of dinner in bowl. Into crate.
May 17 - Hartwell. Carl called Utility. Dodger was pissy during heeling (first) despite obvious food, eventually worked thru it. Did some more heeling at end, and also in and around ring later - much better. Stopped on Carl's command on moving stand. In crate at home for some NILIF. Wendy - heeling, go backs, moving stand, agility. In crate until dinner, attention work for food then out back. In crate overnight.
May 13 - Yorba. Warm. Did Utility "runthru" with heeling last, with fun stuff. Still not real up and needed attention corrections. Had food on me as having in on chair just seems to make him happy only when we leave the ring. Did eventually get cute heeling. Did drop on recall, broad and retrieve on flat. When we went for stays he offered attention. Worked on no moving feet or rolling butt.
May 11 - Norco. Did all Utility exercises in different places trying to put in fun, like doing a 360 instead of a 180 on the articles, and throwing gloves after retrieves, as well as lots of jackpots. Also did retrieve on flat, one drop on recall, and broad working on fronts. Stays.
May 9 - AZ White Mt. Better but still not great tho Adrienne agreed that the judging was off. Fourth with 191 - just picky stuff.

We visited Petrified Forest National Park and saw many flowers all thru the trip.

May 8 - AZ White Mt. Dog before us threw up a bunch in ring which apparently blew Dodger's mind. Went to stanchion to left on both go backs, walked in on moving stand, underturned on glove #2, got wrong first article and blah heeling. Had a bit of a rough work out at motel and no dinner.
May 6 - Rick called pattern out front, to jackpots. Moving stand.
May 5 - Heeling to jackpots out front, signals.
May 4 - Heeling out front to jackpots, signals, moving stand, one go back.
May 3 - Wendy. Little heeling, go backs to bumper, weaves.
May 1 - HRT 1st series. Walkup to poison single, short blind then double, pick up poison then long blind. Crept again and I reheeled him, otherwise did fine. The second series was UGLY - inline double to right and dump bird on left, with a LONG blind inline with the inline double. Got him thru the marks and almost to the blind when he decided that I must be whistling from a point opposite where I was, so with every sit whistle he was facing backwards. Picked up.

Apr 30 - Heeling outside room while Fred Hanson was working patterns, couple go backs, signals, one drop on recall.
Apr 29 - Sierra Nevada HRT. First series was land/water double with bulldog and walkup. Did fine - had a long look at bulldog on ground, went just a little deep on both marks and somewhat avoided the big puddles. Second series land triple with out of order flyer, double blind and honor. On the 2nd blind I sent him to the ribbon for the right hand mark & he wouldn't take the 20 foot over once he was stuck in the scent from the mark. Did eventually go to blind but was dropped - all my fault. Honor on lead he was antsy but probably would have stayed.
Apr 28 - about turn to thrown treat, moving stand, signals, fronts & finishes in motel room.
Apr 24 - NCCCRC obedience. Utility I gave a crappy signal finish so he didn't do it and ended up with 189. Open was a really nice run, 197.5 HIT & HC. Graduate Novice was fine, 2nd leg, 1st place with 194(?). Versatility he sat on recall and messed up an article, but really it was his fourth class of the day.
Apr 21 - CCRCA obedience. Utility 192. Heeling OK, bumped me on article deliveries, glove & moving stand fine, first go back a little to left because there was no center post. Open 195.5 - better heeling, nice drop on recall, good retrieve on flat and over high jump, poor front on broad, moved front feet sideways on sit stay. HIT & HC. Graduated Novice decent heeling, nice drop on recall, rest fine. 194.5 1st place, first GN leg.
Apr 20 - WCQ. Needed to be handled on middle bird, kinda messy. I think he didn't like the front field footing wise as he was pretty dull. No problem with water double even tho he didn't really see the go bird. Both blinds nice, honor no problem, WCQ pass.
Apr 19 - Prado. Water blinds and one land blind at Big Lake, did a little attention work, passed UWC easily.

Apr 18 - PetCo. Heeling, signals, moving stand, go backs.
Apr 17 - PetCo. Heeling, signals, moving stand, go backs following him to swat his butt for fast sit.
Apr 16 - Signal drops in box, heeling starts and turns, arounds.
Apr 15 - Signal drops in box, moving stand.
Apr 14 - signals in box, heeling starts and turns.
Apr 12 - Fast signal drops, signals in box, go backs to box. Did heeling starts and signals for dinner.
Apr 11 - Pap club trial. Nice run on #2 order except there were 3 stewards at back of ring waiting to do gloves so he got confused looking at them as he turned and forgot to sit. Very nice heeling then didn't do down signal. Prado - Q land and water marks and blinds
Apr 10 - Prado. Single from winger then two blinds over concept ponds with white markers. Did "run thru" out front for dinner. Did finishes, signals, heeling starts and turns later.
Apr 9 - Prado. Inline land double with double blind with white markers. Angle water blinds with white markers that he had trouble with because he didn't want to do the angle.

The vultures are nesting at Prado.

Apr 8 - Yorba Reg. Heeling, turns, gloves, go backs to treats with one turn and sit that was rewarded by sending him back to treat, articles, moving stand, signals. Linda called heeling and again - beautiful.
Apr 7 - Prado. Inline land double with winger and hand thrown, and double blind. Repeated blinds closer up and with white markers as he was having trouble. OE - Bill ran us thru in A order. Dodger started out with the usual head down heeling even tho he was heads up coming into the ring, showed him food and he got up and cute right away. Jackpotted 3X. Didn't do exam on moving stand because he was stinky from Prado. Took wrong jump on first directed jumping. Rewarded nice turn and sit on second go back. Finishes tend to be forged so worked them later with barrier. Bill called another heeling pattern and it was beautiful.
Apr 6 - Heartwell. Utility runthru was nice and very solid. Carl called an extra heeling pattern later and I jackpotted frequently. Two tracks. Did heeling for dinner.
Apr 5 - Rick called pattern out front, without warmup, for jackpot. Started pissy, ended well, did signals at end. Wendy - agility, go backs on collar for fast tight turn and sits, fronts and finishes with rods, did heeling on collar and interesting how he snapped to right away when I assumed the position. Did heeling turns in slo mo, glove turns, signals. At home did heeling for dinner, then a sort of runthru for last part of dinner. Later did about turns to thrown treat.
Apr 4 - Silver State. Not as good, maybe because the dog before us didn't do all exercises so I probably wasn't mentally ready. On first article he underturned and then stared at the ring steward near the high jump - had poor turns, fronts and finishes on both articles. First go back he turned, sniffed and sat, 2nd one he made a biggish turn. 195 3rd place. At home he heeled for each bite of dinner as well as signal down, then down to sit at end.
Apr 3 - Silver State. Really nice run, probably lost all points on heeling - 195, 2nd place for another OTCh point. Did quite a bit of warmup.
Apr 2 - Vegas match. Held in the ring we will use tomorrow, did Utility and it was very nice. No hesitation on down signal, tried on fronts and finishes, going a bit to the right on go backs, heeling nice. Hope it carries over to tomorrow!! Did go backs to & over baby gates at motel, and short "runthrus" for dinner.
Apr 1 - Prado. Land single from winger then blind, did two times from different directions. Land, puddle, land, water blind - needed discussion. Two tracks, one with short turn. Yorba - warmed up with heeling, signals, go backs past stake to treat, fronts on box. Agility serpentines. Did a run thru around and thru group stays - other than some forged finishes and occasional off heeling it was quite nice. Did heeling and signals, then turns, moving stand, go backs, heeling and signals for dinner.

Mar 31 - Did several heeling patterns to signals and moving stand/go back/turns and heeling to dinner jackpots.
Mar 30 - Norco. Warmed up with heeling, signals, fronts and finishes. Ann called and it was all very nice but he came close to not going down on signal, and is also starting to banana on go backs so did some to and over baby gates later. Prado - land inline double with winger and launcher. Long water blind over dike in Big Lake to dike at Long Lake, then just from one dike to other. Yorba - heeling, moving stand, signals, go backs past stake to treat. Dana called a pattern and signals, very nice.
Mar 29 - Hartwell - Jeremy put us thru Utility, heeling was pretty good tho I need to focus on standing straight. All rest fine except walked in on moving stand and not a great sit on 2nd go back. Jeremy said too much body english on signal for left finish. Ann called another heeling pattern - he stood on first halt which was very soon and a little forge on slow, plus when she really held signal between down and sit he got confused and started to come in when I signaled sit. Wendy - agility, heeling with food to jackpots, signals, moving stand, go backs. Worked heeling details - start ups with head up, slows, early halts. Wendy called a pattern at the end and it was really nice, except he sat on down signal! ARGH. I gave him a big correction. Did heeling and signals for dinner.
Mar 28 - Match. Gave Go Dog and two Go cookies, somewhat warm to hot as afternoon went on. Utility - I said Good Sit on both go backs and got a good sit on the second one as well as first. Moving stand he wanted to forge but rest was nice. Gloves he overrotated on #1 (I didn't do warmup turns) otherwise nice. Articles did leather first all nice except didn't quite come up to heel on finishes. Signals I showed him the hot dog I had prior to starting - there was a halt right away that he messed up and a bit of a forge on slow otherwise quite nice except he sat on the stand signal, which is weird. Repeated fast to about to stand and was fine. Signals themselves very nice. Jackpot. Open - Gave more Go Dog but probably not early enough. Stepped on Broad but lovely front, barfed a little water on drop on recall but otherwise nice as were retrieves on flat and over high. Beautiful figure 8, heeling fine, need support due to heat. Later, did heeling for jackpot out front, then signals for large treat.
Mar 27 - Lab HRT. Blowing a hurricane. In field to right of campground, on left. In line double down tree line with third 90 degrees to left and blind down the middle, then honor. He was very steady got close right bird and left bird just fine with decent style, went out well on long bird, go hung up in scent of short bird, handled well until 10-15 yards short of long bird then slipped one whistle and two casts because he had to go right into trees. I went to pick him up and he winded the bird and picked it up. Didn't do blind, just fine on honor even tho I had him on a loose lead. Did some heeling for jackpots (dinner) at home.

Chicory at the Vallejo fairgrounds.

Mar 26 - Vallejo. Did leather article first got it fine with nice front but when I said Get Back for finish he went back to pile again. Rest was fine - I thought the heeling was sloppy but only lost 2 points. One sit after go back was off to the side. Would have been 196.
Mar 25 - Vallejo. Not a good run. Had a drive by on signals, picked wrong first article again, sticky on glove, anticipated Forward because I waited on moving stand, nice directed jumping. Signals would have been 4.5 w/o driveby, .5 on second article, .5 on glove (I doubt she saw the stick), 3 on moving stand (probably nothing but the anticipation) and .5 on directed jumping. Worked articles, heeling, signals, moving stand, short go backs and turns at motel. Took him for a walk in afternoon.
Mar 23 - Norco. Gave 2 cookies and Go Dog, warmed up by doing some quick, happy heeling and go backs over baby gates. Went into ring alone and he got pissy, so I sort of jollied him out of it, then he was great. Did heeling with two rewards, signals with "Good" after each one, directed jumping and moving stand. He wanted to walk in on first one so pointed out it was wrong and he did fine next one. Later Ann ran us thru Utility in a different ring, I did some pushing and tugging, showed him a cookie at the chair and went in. Heeling first and at first he didn't want to engage, but after I pushed, pounded and tweeked him a little he engaged and did great - started out heeling with attention and kept it for almost the whole time. Rest was also great except he apparently didn't hear the first "find" on article #1. Also walked in on moving stand and need to work on him stopping and staying stopped. Prado - Did big white bumper single from winger and blind, then winger and hand thrown double and blind, then triple, always moving the line - just fine. Also two long angled water blinds - he fell off with strong wind but would correct with handle then fall off again. Did another land triple, then blinds one by one to a row of trees.
Mar 22 - Hartwell. Hot and muggy and he was so bad I put the collar on him to do the signals. He did pretty well but was nervous and rushing. Also not really into it at Wendy later, tho when it cooled down towards the end got better work. Could also be because I didn't give him any Go Dog?
Mar 18 - Prado. Two longer tracks with drag only at very beginning of first one - did fine. Live pigeon & big white bumper singles from winger, big white bumper sight blinds, remote land-water-land-water marks - all working on getting him to use his eyes. Yorba - heeling, signals, come to heels, articles with hot dog scent on grass - only a second or two of sniffing first time then none. Go backs to pole with treat behind it, signals in box, fronts and finishes.
Mar 17 - Little bit of heeling out front, offset fronts with long line of poles. Did three tracks at park with only a bit of drag - did OK. Then heeling, signals and one moving stand.
Mar 16 - Prado. Two tracks at campground, one about 50 yards. Live pigeons from winger trying to get him to break - not even close. Double with winger and hand thrown live birds with double blind, fine. Did some wanter blinds, mostly long and technical, and some short cut-the-corner marks. Yorba - heeling, abouts, slows, go backs and sits, come to heel on moving stand, faster signal drop.
Mar 15 - Hartwell. Did three short tracks dragging hot dogs in nylons - did great. Probably ready for a 10 ft leash now. Ann ran us thru Utility & it was quite nice despite heat. Ann put hot dog scent where articles were and got another correction.
Mar 14 - Rick called heeling out front, quite nice. Put parmesan cheese in grass and put articles on it - got a great correction in. Fronts and finishes inside.
Mar 13 - Hills Ferry HRT. Land/water triple with blind and walkup. Had a no bird on our first try, second one the first thrower didn't appear to be ready so our walkup was loooong, he crept really bad then broke.
Mar 12 - Collie trial. Warmed up by heeling with a few attention corrections, signals, moving stand, turns. Gave two Go cookies about half an hour prior. Sniffed grass on 1st article for a long time, came to and just grabbed one - wrong one. The rest was really nice and NO other points off. ARGH. Made him stay focused on me in ring and played between exercises.

Gilia, taken in a field near Lost Hills

Mar 11 - Yorba. Heeling he did really well, hardly needed any attention corrections and his turns were great, signals, moving stand, directed jumping, gloves. Did articles cloe and he kept wanting to walk in. Two long backs to tug toy over high jump, no-no drill with empty water bottles.
Mar 10 - Heeling starts, about turns, signals.
Mar 9 - Norco. Utility runthru, go backs over baby gates, long go backs.
Mar 8 - Hartwell. Did runthrus in Open and Utility, did well even tho he was getting hot. Wendy - Go backs, heeling, articles, gloves, agility.
Mar 7 - Tervs. Someone started sawing a plastic bucket in half while we were doing signals, so he missed the come signal. Rest was nice of course.
Mar 6 - Tervs. Everything was pretty good, but didn't do signal drop. Also, Laura said he moved after I left him on the signal stand, plus since I'd already flunked I didn't step out when she said Forward on the moving stand and got in an anticipation correction. Without signals, he'd only lost 4 points and some of that was the moving stand. Tried hard to hit fronts. Sigh. Worked some long go backs, signals, fronts and heeling starts.
Mar 5 - More fronts, heeling, glove turns.
Mar 4 - Fronts with Lance box, rewards for Yes and heads up starts.
Mar 2 - Norco. Utility runthru, other than off fronts on gloves and articles it was a nice run. Did extra heeling and stays.
Mar 1 - Wendy. Directed jumping, moving stand, gloves - need to work on fronts, articles, heeling, signals, agility.

Feb 28 - HRC test. Again did quite well except he crept on the marks even more than the day before. Second Seasoned leg.

Feb 27 - HRC test. Did very well. Need to work on land blinds into cover but otherwise quite clean for first Seasoned leg. Worked some heeling and moving stand in hotel.
Feb 25 - Prado. Water double with blind and bulldog, land walkup and blind, land singles with live pigeons.
Feb 21 - Santa Clara. Awful. I am hoping it is because he scarfed a bunch of DJ's kibble on Friday nite and wasn't feeling well. On glove #2 he turned to #1, then to #3 after correction; heeling was the worst he'd done in a very long time, and on 2nd directed jump he barfed some water and a bit of food so was excused.
Feb 20 - At show site - heeling, go backs over baby gates, moving stand, signals.
Feb 18 - Yorba. Did 2 tracks, last one ran out of ham for the last 15 or so steps but it didn't seem to phase him. Go back over baby gates, turn & sits with wire, one moving stand, signals, some very nice heeling, glove turns, 3 legged wagon wheel, long blinds, no-no drill.
Feb 17 - Tracked at park, heeling for a jackpot.
Feb 16 - Norco. Heeling in & out of ring, signals, go backs over baby gates, one moving stand, agility. Prado. Tracking with Kelly, land doubles with winger & hand thrown bumpers with blind, breaking single with double blind, long singles.
Feb 15 - Tracked on sidewalk and grass out front. Gave up HITT and started Koehler at Wendy. Go backs over baby gates, heeling, moving stand, signals, agility.
Feb 14 - Match. Novice was quite nice, he dropped his head a couple of times but otherwise great attention and heeling. Perfect stand for exam and recall. Treated during both heeling patterns rather than on halts. Did some go back to baby gates having him jump about 75% of the time to treat on other side, did a track 3 times in parking lot. Open was much later and warmer but still went well, but by Utility he was a little blah and wasn't trying as hard.
Feb 13 - Match. Utility - nice heeling, had attention 50%+ of the time, stopped while looking for first article - seemed like he thought he heard me say something, nice glove, beautiful moving stand and directed jumping. Open - even better heeling - warmed up by running to the ring showing him a hot dog, the rest was very nice.

Feb 12 - Tracking, wagon wheel, heeling, turns, moving stand, signal drop.
Feb 11 - Yorba. Heeling, signals, moving stand, one go back.
Feb 10 - Out front - heeling, signals. In house - abouts, faster signal drops, moving stands, faster turn & sit on go backs.
Feb 8 - Wendy. Agility, go backs, signals, directed jumping, moving stands, heeling.
Feb 7 - Match. Did Novice, first heeling was nice after some encouragement right at beginning, but second one he appeared bored except on halts. Probably need to break out while moving. Lovely front, didn't do finish. Utility was very nice except he moved as judge said Call Your Dog on moving stand. Heeling he wasn't highly attentive and cute the whole time but the heeling itself was nice except one wide about turn. Tryed hard on fronts, except glove. Open we did backwards, nice broad & front, poor retrieve over high jump front, nice retrieve on flat, bad drop on recall tho I said Front instead of Come and gave sort of a weird signal for the drop. Didn't do figure 8, wonderful heeling - broke out a couple of times for jackpots. Did a couple of agility runs working on distance handling.
Feb 6 - Agility. Only ran Standard as had to leave for vet. I told him to Go, he thought he heard No and pulled off jump like a good dog. Also totally missed weaves the first time, but by then he was also pretty nutzo. Listened well tho and handled at a distance. At home did some heeling out front working on turns, fronts and finishes inside.
Feb 5 - Fronts with and without something in his mouth working on heads up, heeling turns, signal down in place, moving stand.
Feb 4 - Yorba. Heeling working on me standing straight and footwork on turns, go backs, moving stand, signals, two grass tracks, staggered wagon wheel. Dana called heeling pattern and he gave attention almost right away - because no ring? At home worked on fronts with two rods and glove or dumbell, plus some very offset fronts.
Feb 2 - Norco. Robert called heeling in ring with me with obvious food. Started blah but perked up quickly and was forging & pushy. Need to keep shoulders straight when starting. Did go backs past pole, directed jumping, moving stand. Did two grass and one cement straight tracks, staggered wagon wheel and straight backs. Worked on footwork at home later on.
Feb 1 - Started HITT tracking with a straight track with close treats, then same one with further apart treats. Two serpentines with close treats, then experimented with a short straight one on grass, which worked the best. Wendy - agility, wagon wheel with white close, then black deeper and red deepest. Wendy called a heeling pattern in the tennis court with a faux soccer game going on in the other half. Worked on my posture, and his attention by stopping when he looked away and then big reaction when he reconnected.

Jan 31 - Prado. Land triple with Rick, winger and launcher. Rick's was an in throw and apparently he couldn't see it as he went way off to the side twice. Changed to flat throw, he was fine. Did two blinds off these marks and tho he would handle to them he just wouldn't do a good initial line. Medium water blind later. At home did some heads up fronts, new stand signal and backs to kibble.
Jan 30 - Rick called heeling out front, very nice. Also moving stand - he moved after stopping the first time then the next two were perfect.
Jan 29 - PetCo. Attention heeling - very nice, offered it most of the time, signals, moving stand, glove turns. Later did non-no to white pieces of paper with treats, fronts with head up and heeling turns.
Jan 28 - At home. Attention heeling, go backs, fronts working on him coming in with his head up.
Jan 27 - To park to do long backs and no-no drill. Worked no-no with paper towels and treats at home later. Did a bit of attention heeling in CVS parking lot.
Jan 26 - In house. Heeling, signals, one go back, fronts & finishes.
Jan 25 - Wendy. Heeling, gloves, signals, go backs and one directed jumping, moving stand, agility.
Jan 24 - Had a working spot in seminar today. During group heeling worked mostly on attention and attitude, revving him up before each one - did very well. Cranked up the excitement when he was doing it just right. Also worked moving stand, fronts and finishes, signals.
Jan 23 - Attention heeling in seminar building, few fronts, more attention heeling during am break, circles. Did some stationary attention while crowd was working.
Jan 22 - Attention heeling for each bite of dinner. Wanted more after dinner was all gone so did some left turns for treats.
Jan 21 - Experimented with heeling with treat stuffed squirrel - seemed to work well, but then later it didn't. Maybe because I didn't rev him up ahead of time. Tried obvious hot dogs then once or twice not obvious after revving him up - better. Tried food on stick too. Did attention heeling for each piece of dinner, working on automatic/muscle memory for right place and right attitude.
Jan 20 - Frequent attention heeling in house for jackpots, fronts with Lance box, some heeling turns, signals, one moving stand.
Jan 19 - Utility "runthrus" in house, used box for go backs, and Lance box for fronts - to jackpot. More attention work for jackpots later. Worked on trying to put him in drive first. Is moving feet on moving stand.
Jan 18 - Did a sort of Utility runthru in house before dinner - heeling, signals, moving stand, glove turns. Did it again in PM with added retrieves after turns, and go backs for one whole hotdog. No treats otherwise.
Jan 17 - San Jose. Did rally with Proxy first, then short warmup. Did well, tried hard but didn't do signal drop. Only lost 2 points otherwise, sigh. Worked some down/sit/down/sit signals, fronts and moving stand at home.
Jan 16 - San Jose. First trial - sorta spooked as judge moved to see front on first directed jumping so had a drive by. Kind of fast walked in on moving stand, tasted articles and had a bit of a spook there too (long time since he's been in a building), only one point off of heeling! 191 with 4 points off for driveby. Worked him before and after this run. 2nd trial - didn't do much warmup and played more. Seemed to try harder tho went left on first go back and still not brisk enough on moving stand. 193 with 3 points off for bad go back, one point heeling again. Worked on go backs and moving stand in lot in evening.
Jan 14 - heeling out front, inside fronts and finishes, signal drop behind rod, moving stand chase game.
Jan 13 - PetCo. Attention heeling, signals, moving stand. Home - fronts, fast turn & sits.
Jan 11 - Wendy. Attention heeling, moving stand, signals, fronts, agility, go backs, directed jumping.
Jan 10 - Prado. At the T pond, on collar. Singles on land and land/water to winger, working on him marking bird and not area. Did blinds off of area of marks, and passing bird blinds, as well as a small wagon wheel. Did some attention work for dinner.

Jan 8 - Heeling out front, moving stand, signals.
Jan 7 - Palm Springs match. Gave both Go Cookies and Go Dog before hand. Open - Bonnie called. Did rather well despite heat tho did need ear corrections for losing attention on heeling. Beautiful figure 8. Popped him one on butt on first left finish for doing a bit of a wander, ticked high jump on the way back, much less mouthing, almost all perfect fronts. Utility - Pat called. Did heeling first and last - much better attention, especially the first time. Otherwise just minor front and finishes off, execpt traveled on moving stand and kind of a slow signal drop. Worked a bunch of heeling in empty ring later.
Jan 6 - Fronts & finishes with Lance box. Did some attention heeling at Petco - he might be getting it.
Jan 5 - Norco. Judy called Utility. Needed to hold ear first half of heeling, then fine. Rest fine except some butt in finishes and #2 glove turn could have been better. Did a bit more heeling in and outside of ring. At home worked finishes with Lance box in front of mirror.
Jan 4 - Wendy. Directed jumping working on fast, tight turn and sit, moving stand, signals, #2 glove turn. Heeling for dinner bowl with corrections for any looking away. Did quite a bit of heeling while holding ear. Agility.
Jan 3 - WAGS. Utility run wasn't bad until articles - 1st one he took a tour of the back of the ring before going to the pile, probably because the pile was between the jumps. Slow turn and sits on go backs, under turned on glove #2, trotted in on moving stand and both articles, no mouthing, better fronts and finishes, decent-good heeling, solid signals. Put treats in bowl on chair before going in ring.
Jan 2 - WAGS. Very distracted as we went into the ring, finally figured out he was looking for the lure from yesterday's fun runs. Blew signal sit, and had drive by on first directed jumping. Walked in on moving stand and first article. Worked signals, moving stand and articles at site later, then heeling even later. More heeling at motel in parking lot and fronts in room. Did some heeling, signals and a moving stand for dinner.
Jan 1 - WAGS. Standard was a very nice run except I didn't support #8 enough so had a refusal. By Jumpers he was hot so it was clean but too slow. Fast was also slow, and I got lost, but managed to Q for 1st place and first NF leg. Worked heeling, signals, go backs, and moving stand near obedience rings in afternoon.
