2009

Back to 2008
On to 2010!

Dec 31 - WAGS. It wasn't small to tall as it said so we were late and didn't walk Standard. Plus it was cold and he'd been in the car all day so he was insane, but he actually did very well. Would've Q'd if I could've gasped out Tunnel at the end. Jumpers was very hard and had a couple of refusals.
Dec 28 - Wendy. Heeling all over next to things working on absolute attention, signals, one moving stand, agility.
Dec 27 - SWOC match. Utility - needed some attention corrections then got head up well on heeling. Butt out stand due to him knowing I had food, signals fine. Couldn't hit fronts, tried not to mouth tho did a little on glove. Very nice directed jumping. Moved after exam on moving stand, anticipating come to heel. Glove fine. Open - again didn't want to get his head up on heeling but did OK. Rest was nice, better fronts except on broad which we repeated after correction. Stays he went down at the very end of the sit, so ended up doing a five minute sit and then another three minute one. Worked on heads up some in empty ring later.
Dec 26 - agility match. Worked attention and heeling around rings and inside warm up ring, fronts, finishes, left turns. 1st standard ring I walked the whole time he ran and he took almost all directions. Basically if I had been better prepared he probably would have Q'd with good speed. Got out of control once but came right back. Popped out of weaves as I moved away from him so will need to work on that. Great on discrimination between tunnel and dogwalk at a distance.

2nd standard was harder for me to walk while he was running so he had to wait frequently, and turned around to come back down the Aframe. Also didn't listen to Get Out after chute, and tried to take teeter, tho that was a hard sequence. Little out of control in beginning, great weave ahead to remote table.

Jumpers was a great run, only bobble was he was upset for a second when I called him off of #13 to do #9, otherwise he layered and ran remote very well.

Dec 25 - Heeling pattern in street, one set of signals, moving stand. Left turns in house.
Dec 24 - Moving stand, signal drops, fronts and finishes.
Dec 23 - Little bit of heeling out front. Inside - signals, moving stand, worked on straight signal stand, left turns, fronts, one around.
Dec 22 - Little bit of heeling focused on turns, signals, moving stand.
Dec 21 - Wendy. Heeling, go backs, moving stand, signals, agility.
Dec 20 - Tri-City. Go backs to baby gates working on sitting right away in right spot, & straight line by having him jump gates to target to treats. Heeling in leaves, signal drops behind pole, moving stand, stays.

Dec 19 - NABOC match. Open - Took food in left hand, at waist, heeling was really nice. He dropped his head at beginning of slow but recovered right away. Rest was also very nice. Only fed after heeling and figure 8. Utility - Heeling not as good, probably because he was a bit hot and didn't get as much of a warm up. Still did well except missed 1st article and tried to walk in on the moving stand. Should work on a tighter/faster turn on the glove. Agility - did two runs, working on distance handling. First one we both needed work, second one we did much better together. Treated the contacts.
Dec 18 - Worked heeling turns, signal drops, fronts with glove & dumbell, moving stand.
Dec 17 - Heeling turns out front. Started having him straddle the bar holder, then back up to down; we'll see if that works. Yorba - heeling focusing on turns, articles, gloves, moving stand, directed jumping, stays. Did signal drops behind a broad jump board.
Dec 16 - Doodled at home on heeling turns and signal down several times.
Dec 15 - Norco. Ran myself thru Open, worked on attention on heeling then ran to treats on a chair, particularly when he offered attention. Rest was quite nice. Did Utility without articles, tried to get him to jump on glove #3 but didn't. Need to work on faster turn after he picks up a glove, worked on compulsion to go to heel on moving stand, nice directed jumping, heeling was quite good, only lost attention on slow next to Boomer in next ring, ran to treats on chair after signals. Stays - fine. More doodling on heeling and signal drop at home.

(Left to right - Regi the BC; Jilly and Kymin, Goldens; Dodger; Timer the Aussie; Brighton the Sheltie; Jessie the Aussie and Joker the Malinois.)

Dec 14 - Wendy. Heeling in ring, directed jumping, moving stand, agility. Did a bunch of work on heeling turns & starts thruout the day, as well as signal drops.
Dec 12 - NOI. Walked in on both moving stands, and didn't stop quickly on second one. Mouthed first glove but after working on it he didn't do much mouthing after that. Was high in first ring, and I didn't know the heeling pattern well enough so 6 points off signals, 2 points on glove mouthing and five points off for hitting broad jump, but only half point off drop on recall. His second ring went well with only 2 points off total. Third ring he was going flat but only 3.5 off heeling and figure 8, and 1.5 off retrieve over high. A walk in moving stand, and a brain fart on glove #3 - for some reason he was sure he was supposed to jump the jump on the way back, probably because we were rather close to it. Fourth ring he didn't do the signal drop but otherwise only lost a half point. Then stays which were perfect, and lunch. Much better after rest and some Carnivore Cookies, his fifth ring he lost five points and last ring 3.5 for walking in on moving stand, 3.5 on directed jumping I guess because I stopped him too soon? and 4.5 on heeling and figure 8 because he got up when I said Yes.
Dec 10 - Yorba. Set up ring with ropes & baby gate with banner on one side. Dana called both Utility & Open, and he did quite well, only mistakes were due to being very high.
Dec 9 - Petsmart. Heeling, one go back, moving stand, signals. Out front - heeling with baby gates & banner, signals, drop on recall, go backs to different areas of banner, moving stand.
Dec 8 - Heeling next to baby gate and banner out front, signals behind barrier inside, fronts, finishes.
Dec 7 - Figure 8 in front room, fronts with dumbell, signal drops behind barrier.
Dec 6 - Worked heeling next to baby gates with Pedigree banner on it, go backs to banner, moving stand, fronts and finishes, drops on recall.
Dec 4 - VHOC match. Stays were fine except he moved his front feet a bit sideways on sit. Did attention work going in and out of ring. Open - heeling was pretty good, not great attention but still clean. Rest was nice tho overexcited on retrieves so fumbled dumbell and almost cut corner on broad. Utility - Heeling slightly better because he knew I had food in my mouth, rest great except walked in on moving stand because I wasn't far away and got a corrction for it.
Dec 3 - Yorba. Heeling, signals, moving stand, two drops on recall, one go back, retrieve on flat, stays.
Dec 1 - Petco. Heeling, signals, moving stand, one drop on recall.

Nov 30 - Wendy. Utility runthru with half ring, worked thru some attention issues near ropes, agility. Wendy called a heeling pattern in ring - not bad. Stays with Labs and Shay.
Nov 29 - Inside - one go back, one turn & sit, retrieves of glove & one dumbell, signals in box, heeling starts. Later some fronts and finishes, heeling starts & turns, signals.
Nov 28 - Rick called a pattern in ring out front - much better. Also did one signal stand and drop and he dropped in place very nicely. Inside worked one turn and sit, fronts with glove and dumbell, heeling starts, finishes.
Nov 27 - Set up a ring out front. Rick called a pattern and he was not giving attention despite help so got corrected. Went out later without Rick and worked him thru not wanting to give attention in a ring. Did many restarts and set ups.
Nov 26 - Rick called pattern out front, signals, go backs, worked on faster turn and sit.
Nov 25 - Out front - heeling.
Nov 24 - Out front - heeling, signals, one go back.
Nov 23 - Wendy. Kelly acted as judge for all of Open except heeling, also did moving stand. Go backs, directed jumping, signals, heeling. Agility. Worked some heeling in tennis courts against fence and go backs to net.
Nov 22 - Rick called pattern out front, signals, go backs. Inside - turn & sits on box, signals in box, fronts and finishes in Lance box. Did some work on no mouthing later on.
Nov 21 - Prado. Land blinds to pigeons under arc of Rick thrown duck.
Nov 20 - Fronts in Lance box, go backs to and thru wooden box, signals in wooden box. Prado - long land & water blinds with major diversions.
Nov 19 - Fronts in Lance box working on no mouthing of dumbell or glove, go backs to wooden box, signals in wooden box.
Nov 18 - Prado. More blinds past bird scent, blinds past marks (not picked up), singles. At home, fronts & finishes with Lance and wooden boxes, a little "choose to heel", beginning go back and sit on box.
Nov 17 - Worked fronts and finishes with Lance box, and signals in box. Prado - blinds past a dead bird, long wagon wheels.
Nov 16 - Wendy. Go backs, directed jumping, moving stand, signals, heeling, broad, retrieve over high jump, retrieve on flat (worked on mouthing), turns, drop on recall and straight recalls, figure 8, agility.
Nov 15 - LV Poodle. Worked well as a team on both courses but knocked a bar in Jumpers and had a refusal in Standard.
Nov 14 - LV Poodle. Got there late so didn't get much of a walk thru in Standard. Ran clean but I got lost so we didn't make time. Utility didn't give Go Cookies because I thought we should lay off and not take a chance at too much "happy", but did a good warmup. Blah heeling, good articles and gloves, walked in on moving stand, nice directed jumping. Got a 185 for 3rd because? Maybe she thought that he was anticipating the forward?? Jumpers was an ugly course but he only dropped one bar, probably my fault for saying Here as he was jumping.
Nov 13 - LV Poodle. Standard he got off course after Aframe, otherwise good run. Jumpers was nice except two dropped bars. Did quite a bit of "choose to heel" around rings, then signals, fronts, finishes and moving stand in motel room.
Nov 12 - Yorba. Dana called Utility after medium warmup up - very nice overall, wasn't mouthing articles. Stays.
Nov 11 - Did some "choose to heel" out front with no verbals, worked quite well. Signals, go backs. New running arounds inside. O.E. - Marcia called Utility after medium warmup - he was high because it was cool but still nice. Very nice heeling, mouthing articles, nice glove, moved after Stay on moving stand, nice directed jumping.

Nov 10 - Norco. Good warmup then stays. He went down on 2nd sit. Kinda hot. Marcia called Utility - very nice. Jackpotted signal drop. Did a staggered wagon wheel later.
Nov 9 - Wendy. She called a Utility runthru, with very little warmup. He moved two feet on moving stand, over turned on glove #3, went to some white object instead of the articles and didn't sit on the first halt. OTOH, he did drop on the signal and we had a big party. Worked more heeling with rewards for choosing to offer attention, signals and go backs later. Also stays while I was throwing a bumper for Proxy - he sat up on the down once.
Nov 8 - Wine Co. Didn't have time to do warmup due to breed ring but he was better than yesterday. Lazy finishes and again, no signal drop.
Nov 7 - Wine Co. I messed up - it was cold but I gave him two Go cookies anyway, plus I didn't do enough warmup. So he was nut bar in the ring - threw glove and arced into poor front, didn't sit on 2nd go back, didn't do signal drop or front - then nice moving stand and articles. Sigh.
Nov 5 - Worked some on him offering attention out front, seems to work pretty well. Yorba - heeling, turns, moving stand, long go backs and recalls, one drop on recall, regular go backs, stays. Nancy sort of called a pattern - she was sitting in a chair calling for Dana and I fell in with them.
Nov 3 - Norco. Rich called Utiilty with no warmup as it was rather hot. First halt he stood and I swatted his butt hard then started over. After that it was very nice - I "tss'ed" him whenever he looked away and he reconnected right away. Very nice on rest except looked around after retrieving glove and walked back on first article. Did go backs to baby gates, stays, more attention work. Prado - Land and water blinds at Freds with obvious suction, long wagon wheel at campground.
Nov 2 - Wendy. Agility, heeling, go backs, broad, one moving stand, figure 8, signals, gloves, stays.
Nov 1 - Prado. Land and water singles with Rick throwing, land and water blinds. Worked also on doubles where the flyer is picked up so I can handle from where it landed - he refused twice and got in good corrections on that.

Oct 31 - Rick called a heeling pattern out front - did well. Signals, moving stand, and a couple of go backs.
Oct 30 - Out front. Heeling, gloves, signals, one recall.
Oct 27 - Front room. Fronts & finishes with Lance box, turns, a little heeling.
Oct 26 - Wendy. Heeling, articles, gloves, moving stand, go backs and directed jumping, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high jump, broad, stays.
Oct 24 - Lab HRT. Crept quite a bit on land triple, particularly on flyer. Got a bad flyer that landed way back of where most other did, let him hunt for awhile then went to handle. Didn't want to take a back, then didn't want to sit so picked him up.
Oct 22 - Prado. Land triple with launchers at 80 & 90 yds and hand thrown, and blind - did fine except little style, mostly due to pussyfoot cover. Water double and blind, fine. Yorba - Linda called pattern, very nice - attention was there most of the time and he reconnected quickly when he did look away. Go backs, turns, broad, articles, signals, moving stand, stays.
Oct 20 - Norco. Figure 8 with rod, articles working on no forge on turns and hurry back, go backs, signals, moving stand, broad - needed to poke foot out as he hit last board (with tail?), formal stays, drop on recall and straight recalls, back pile focusing on getting the right line. Prado - water singles to doubles from launchers on Gordy's. Pulled up short on long one (100+ yds, short 50+) first time, then did great on repeat. Did as inline double from both ends of the pond - fine. Did nice when handled when he pulled up the first time. Land triple with last one hand thrown, couldn't seem to get #1, couldn't seem to see it?
Oct 19 - Wendy. Heeling, go backs, one moving stand. Speed on weaves and jumps (serpentine, pinwheel and straight on). Wendy called heeling - I stepped into him a couple of times on halts, and he anticipated Forward a couple of times. Had to bring out obvious cookie half way thru to fix shutdown due to a couple of minor corrections. More agility.
Oct 18 - Prado. Gave two Go cookies. Land & water singles with Rick throwing, one land double, one quarter. Much better work.
Oct 17 - HVOC match. Very little warmup as it was pretty hot. Open - he started heeling not wanting to watch so held ear for about the first 1/3 then he did quite well. Did a correction on a minor forge on inside of figure 8 second time around. Nice drop on recall but overturned around finish. Needed front adjustment on retrieve on flat, ticked high jump on way back, nice front, overturned around finish again. Needed to fix front on broad. Didn't get to do the sit stay but did down and it was fine. Utility - faded a little to the left on 2nd go back despite getting toy on first one. Threw toy for moving stand finish, glove #1 was very nice tho he hesitated in the corner a bit. Both turns on articles were forged, and corrected. Did heeling with toy on my chest - very nice - threw toy after signal drop and as he was coming in.
Oct 15 - Yorba. Heeling/attention, signals, turns, go backs. Did Open runthru with heeling last and no treats until end. Did very well except forged slow and got some attention corrections. Had some trouble with figure 8 as I was making smaller circles than usual so he was forged on inside and wide on outside. Did some heeling with obvious treat so I could praise offers of attention; also sharp turns after jumping & keep outs. (agility)
Oct 14 - Prado. Basic land marks, acting like an ass. Repeated and really focused on telling him to mark and taking time, much better. Couple of land blinds - fine.
Oct 12 - Wendy. Heeling/attention mostly turns, go backs with a couple of jumps, moving stand, agility, stays.
Oct 11 - ASCA. Obedience cancelled. Worked attention/heeling, drop on recall, straight recall and waiting/working for treats. 1st Standard run faster because it was almost cold, hard discrimination between tunnel and dog walk he handled well. Much cheerleading before and during. 2nd run I apparently called him off of Aframe before he hit the contact, tho the judge also called the dogwalk and I know he hit that one. Couldn't do Jumpers as we left for Prado. Land triple with blind with Rick throwing and two launchers - did it with zero pizzazz.

Oct 10 - ASCA. Moved & woofed on down and lost 5 points, rest was nice - worked hard to try to hit front on broad. 190.5 for 2nd CDX leg. First Open Standard - did OK, kinda pokey but still Q'd and 1st place. Second standard he had off course by going up Aframe instead of in tunnel. I think he dropped a bar too. Jumpers hosed him down and worked on speed and attitude - a little better. Q and 2nd place.
Oct 9 - Del Sur. Needed two finish commands on glove due to truck starting up behind him - also underturned on #2. 1/2 point off of leather article due to mouthing, prob 1 1/2 points off heeling but didn't drop, otherwise all perfect! He was a little warm and started pokey but got better as we went along.
Oct 8 - Yorba. Heeling, signals, moving stand, go backs, retrieve over high jump, retrieve on flat, broad, straight recalls. Did a sit stay after Prime did the sit/down with group.
Oct 7 - Prado. Inline double with blind on same line a bit to the left and further out, along shore. He wanted to channel swim on blind but otherwise did great. Did another shorter down the shore blind as well that he nailed. OE - Open runthru without a judge in the ring, rather nice. Didn't treat until the end. Stays he got up on sit and moved a body length forward then sat again. Down was fine.
Oct 6 - Norco. Ann called, just did signals, moving stand and directed jumping, all nice. Prado - blinds, patterns, blind off of mark and poison bird, all on collar. Moved to T pond and did land-water-land singles and blinds off of that, on collar.
Oct 5 - Wendy. Go backs to food with only one sit, broad with rod to poke at him as he jumps, little bit of heeling, agility.
Oct 4 - NAHRA. Triple went fine, the blind was under the arc of the second mark. He got stuck on the scent there and would. not. sit. Or come - I had to go get him. Brat.
Oct 3 - NAHRA. Got a bad flyer (2nd of triple) that went behind a large tree. He was going right at it, then wanted to pussy foot around junk under tree, which pushed him towards bird he already picked up so he went to switch. Whistled, messy handle, then he flat refused to sit, so I picked him up. Stopped at a field on the way out and discussed handling with the collar.
Oct 1 - Prado. Trails, quartering, sit to flush. Yorba - little heeling, stays, go backs.

Sept 30 - Prado. Water double to triple with blind, land double with blind, land singles.
Sept 29 - Norco. Stays - went down on sit so was able to get in a good correction. Did a long back pile.
Sept 28 - Wendy. Go backs, agility, back pile.
Sept 27 - Bonanza. Warmup fronts with dumbell, finishes. Told him Front just before both retrieve on flat and retrieve over high jump, which worked. Nice high jump and drop on recall, little bit of anticipating turns in heeling but nice and had heads up at the end, getting close to cutting corner on broad. Sloppy front. Went down on sit and moved enough on down to lose 3 points. Barked. Lost 1/2 on high and drop on recall, 1 point on heeling and retrieve on flat, and 1/2 on broad. Warmup for Utility was butt swat sits, little bit of heeling, moving stand, signals and turns. Little bit of an underturn on glove #1, sniffed grass on 2nd article, 2nd go back to left side. Ended up with 1st with 195.5 for 4 points and HIT. 1/2 off glove and directed jumping, 1.5 off of articles and heeling/signals, 1/2 of moving stand.

Sept 26 - Bonanza. Warm up was go backs, heeling, turns, moving stand. Looked away just as I gave down signal and missed it. Then he picked up a leather article instead of metal (!). After that he did well tho his fronts are still on my right leg. Go backs were beautiful, heeling he got up right before Forward again, glove and moving stand were nice. Argh - everyone flunked!! Sigh. Would've been a bad score as she took 2 1/2 off glove, 1 1/2 off moving stand and 2 1/2 off directed jumping - no idea why except its Noelle Pilat. Open was fairly nice except driveby on the retrieve on flat (first) and ticked the first board on the broad, maybe because I didn't stand in the usual place. Went down on sit - didn't bother to look at score. Went to a dog park to run him with Proxy and then down to Tahoe to swim. Later at motel did heeling, fronts, finishes, moving stand, signals and go backs for no treats until end but much playing and praise.
Sept 25 - Did some turns, finishes and heeling on the way up to motel. Signals, fronts, finishes, turns and moving stand at motel.
Sept 24 - Yorba. Warmed up with go backs, little bit of heeling, moving stand, signals, fronts, finishes and turns. Dana called Utility and except for a couple of off fronts/finishes it was really nice. Worked some Open - heeling, figure 8, drop on recall, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high jump, broad, stays. Did some extra straight recalls as he was doing some anticipating of the drop.
Sept 23 - Prado. Did well on this - sucked to launcher on #1 but came up with it quickly. Didn't want to line up on blind behind #2 so repeated it. Also did from the tree line, going the other way. He almost made it past #1 to get #2 but then winded it, put on the brakes and got that. When sent for #2 again, he wanted to stop and had to be handled.

Sept 22 - Butterfield. Hot. Go backs, directed jumping. Rich called Utility - didn't have heads up attention but really nice heeling and signals. Dropped 1st article at my feet, better turns, very nice glove #1, nice moving stand. Was determined to got to upright to left of center and had to really work on it. Need to work fronts. Pauline called heeling in Open which went well, then I did rest alone except no figure 8. Better fronts but still need work. At home worked on fronts, finishes, and gloves/articles turns, all with rods.
Sept 21 - Wendy. She called a heeling pattern and he was really up and did well. Did go backs, glove turns, moving stand, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high, broad jump and stays with Labs.
Sept 20 - Santa Ana Valley. HOT. Worked really well for the heat, got 191 should have been 195 but judge took off 4 pts for my abouts. Had one marginal turn & sit, both articles turns were forged, fronts could be better. Didn't do much warmup due to heat and didn't do as much playing in ring.
Sept 19 - Out front - heeling, moving stand, signals, go backs. Inside - fronts, finishes, glove turns.
Sept 17 - Yorba. Heeling, signals, moving stand, go backs, one set directed jumping, glove turns.
Sept 16 - Attention starts out front, one set of signals. Did some more in house in pm, including working on abouts with head up.
Sept 15 - Norco. Pauline called Utility with little warmup, it was a bit muggy so he didn't want to work. Heeling was still rather nice tho he failed to do the signal stand (!), articles were great, glove he is now underturning a little bit on #1, perfect moving stand, tried to take the wrong jump on first directed jumping (weird), and was doing a little fade to the left on the go backs. Ann called Open, hot by then and despite Go Dog he had to have ear pinched almost all the way thru the heeling. Nice drop on recall, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high jump and broad - front just a little off. Really nice figure 8. Didn't do stays. In pm, did attention starts and fronts with box and metal article in house.
Sept 14 - Wendy. Go backs, directed jumping trying to get him to do a driveby, one moving stand, gloves focusing on good turns, signals, heeling, figure 8, drop on recall, retrieve over high with offset throws, retrieve on flat, broad jump, stays with a bunch of Labs and Shay.
Sept 13 - GSD trial. Less warmup today because I wasn't paying attention, tho I did whip thru it. Perfect moving stand, 1 pt off directed jumping for bad front, 1.5 off signals (better heeling than yesterday, his only real errors were anticipating), 1.5 off glove because he overturned on #1 again, 2.5 off articles because he picked up then dropped the right article and a bad front. 193.5 Third place. Forgot to do butt swat but did do other in between exercises things and he was up and tried hard.

Dodger and Proxy got to play in the ocean on the way home.

Sept 12 - GSD trial. In the 60's. 1 pt front on gloves, 1/2 front on articles, 1 pt finish on directed jumping, heeling was up, trying, a little forged then he didn't drop. Argh. Perfect moving stand. Did full warmup prior and in ring pulled tail, swatted butt, poked ear between exercises.
Sept 11 - Did some heeling, moving stand, turn & sits and signals for dinner at motel. Did all of that and fronts & finishes later for cheese.
Sept 10 - Did some attention heeling out front, dropping food when he wasn't paying attention, then getting to it before he could - seems to work. Couple of recalls, finishes. Yorba - go backs to baby gate to get him to go straight, jumped over each time to road kill duck except last with a very nice turn and sit. It was hot-ish so gave Go Dog and put him up until I'd worked Proxy and Prime. Did some warmup stuff - heeling starts, butt swat turn and sits, glove turns, moving stand. Dana called Utility and it was rather nice - 2nd turn and sit was a little slow, signal drop was in two pieces, overturned on #3 glove again and a couple of 1/2 point fronts. Moving stand was perfect and heeling very nice. Did stays while I was doing them with Prime.
Sept 9 - Some more Aframe work. Inside - fronts and finishes, then attention heeling out front. After dinner did some glove turns, attention starts, turn and sits, fronts, finishes, moving stand.
Sept 8 - Did some Aframe work out back. In house - attention starts, fronts, finishes, glove turns, turns and sits.
Sept 7 - Butterfield. Judy called Utility - did an attention correction just before we went in and did A routine. Heeling was nice, signals fine, articles nice, overturned on glove #3, nice moving stand, second turn and sit needed correction, needs work on fronts. Worked signal drops in box and on curb to work on him not coming forward, did some attention starts.
Sept 6 - Tricities. Articles close to pile working on hurry back, gloves, moving stand, go backs, attention starts. Dana called Utility - HOT heeling was pretty good after correction and start over. Didn't down, got two turn and sit corrections, did trot back on close articles, moving stand and glove fine. Worked more directed jumping and heeling in ring afterwards.
Sept 5 - Fronts and finishes in house with box working on getting deeper left finishes. Did some attention turns & starts.
Sept 3 - Did some fronts and finishes at home with box. Yorba Reg. Worked him after Prime and Proxy. Attention work, drop on recall, finishes, articles, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high. Dana called a heeling pattern and it was very nice.
Sept 1 - Norco. Attention work, did very well only needed one correction. Go backs working on straight & tight turns, moving stand.

Aug 31 - Some attention work inside, fronts with box.
Aug 30 - agility. Put him in playpen instead of crate and will ice him just prior to running. Also will try some major "up" cheerleading. Jumpers opening was jump, tunnel and for some reason he refused the tunnel - I suppose I didn't support it enough. After that I was out of position, and then lost, but still did the cheerleading and he was much faster than yesterday. Did some very nice attention work between runs, only needed one correction. Standard I missed a trap during the walk, which he fell for, otherwise a rather nice run. Hosing and playpen seems to be the way to go when it is hot.
Aug 29 - agility. Other than being slow due to heat and humidity, he did fine. Q'd in Jumpers for 7th MXJ leg but just barely under time. Doing a bit better in Standard but fell off of teeter at almost the end. Did a little bit of attention starts between runs.
Aug 27 - Yorba. Attention work in 100+ degree heat - quite good. Moving stand, signals with treats thrown behind him for down & sit. Some 2 jump agility drills working on tight turns. Did go backs working on turn in place - did great. Directed jumping working on drivebys by throwing a toy as he came in - only fell for it the first time. Dana called heeling and after a correction at very beginning it was really nice.
Aug 26 - More work on attention, particularly starts and abouts, inside and out front. Did some fast turns after (low) jump in front room, and some speed work on Aframe and teeter out back.
Aug 25 - Attention heeling at odd times thruout the day.
Aug 24 - Wendy. Worked go backs on collar, demanded attention heeling, agility.
Aug 23 - Mensona. Got there early, did piles of warmup and it didn't help. Really bad and sloppy run with two drivebys, and ended up 3rd of 3 qualifiers with something like a 179. Apparently, I need to run him every day...
Aug 22 - Mensona. Didn't do as much warmup as the class was smaller and started earlier. He was high again, and didn't drop on signal down (last exercise). Score would've stunk anyway.
Aug 21 - Lake Co. A bit high in the ring so messy, but earned a 191.5 for Third place to finish OM1 and get another OTCh point. Did some work doing go backs to baby gate and having him either sit or jump, to keep him from banana-ing, some attention heeling for cheese.
Aug 20 - Little bit of work next to tomorrow's ring. He was rather high as it was cooler, so was forging and bouncing. Did some heeling, signals, moving stand, and go backs to baby gates.
Aug 18 - fronts and finishes with box.
Aug 13 - fronts and finishes with box, left turns in place. Yorba - attention heeling with extra work on lefts, moving stands, signals, glove turns, go backs to baby gates - he wanted to curve left to sit so I had him go straight and jump the gates instead of sit. Dana called a heeling pattern and he did quite well. Need to keep my chin up so my left shoulder doesn't drop. Worked some tight turns back after jumping for agility. At home worked a sort of no-no drill with bread crusts, and did some bending to the left.
Aug 12 - Tried about turns to bowl with food and it didn't seem to do much for him - maybe try outside with better footing? Did a couple of fronts with box, and then finishes with it, which worked well.
Aug 11 - Norco. Worked some heeling motivation in ring then Robert called Open, which went well. Just a couple of off fronts, and one bad left turn because he wasn't watching. He also still starts his figure 8 badly on the first go round.
Aug 10 - Wendy. Agility working on tunnel speed, sending speed & tight turns after jumps. Did some attention heeling.
Aug 9 - agility. Worked myself hard in Standard to make sure I supported everything, and we Q'd with 2nd place to finish his AX. The table was wobbly and tried to throw him off but he held on. He also let me front cross the teeter, since I was afraid to rear cross it again. Jumpers he had one or two arcing turns but Q'd for 6th MXJ leg and 3 more MACH points.

Aug 8 - agility. Very nice Standard run until A frame, fourth to last. I was out of breath and only squeeked out Go Climb so as I rear crossed he came off. Jumpers was fine - he was a little warm so made some wide turns but got fifth MXJ leg.
Aug 6 - Mark's. Worked the same course as Tuesday, and also changed it around some. Did some work on layering and sending.
Aug 5 - set up jump-Aframe-tire-jump-teeter in backyard and did at 630 pm. Still too hot, he was going off into space at times. Hosed him down, did it again and much better but he still needs babysitting.
Aug 4 - Norco. Heeling in ring without a "judge" working on getting head up - by the end he was doing well and had a very nice figure 8. Drop on recall was nice - maybe drop could've been a little faster. Very nice broad jump. Hot and humid. Doodled a bit in Utility - did two directed jumping with rewards after each turn & sit, front and finish. Marks - he had Sunday's Standard course set up and explained that Dodger missed #6 because I was facing where I was going to rear cross instead of towards the jump. Worked the course a couple of times, changed it around a couple of times and then ran the original again once more. Altho he was still hot and somewhat pokey, he did better than he has in days. Did some attention heeling, fronts and finishes while waiting for class to be over.
Aug 3 - Wendy. Attention heeling working on turns and slow, agility working on staying focused.
Aug 2 - agility. Once again he wouldn't do Standard. Opening was a six jump difficult sequence, which he did fine until he just refused #6. I went on and he did fine until he refused the teeter, which was 3rd to last. Didn't seem to be because of the heat today, but can't really tell. Jumpers tho he was pokey, and tho he ran clean he was 3 seconds over time.
Aug 1 - agility. Picked him up in Standard as he was so flat I thought something was wrong with him. Apparently it was just because the humidity came down just before our run. Gave him a Go Cookie and got him wet and he was fine in Jumpers - 3rd place for 4th MXJ leg and 2 MACH pts. WLA match - Open was nice run, got compliments from the judge about how "Curlies usually aren't this good". He still didn't want to put his head up on heeling even knowing I had food but he did a good job and his abouts were much improved, as was his slow tho I said "back" just as we went into it. Stood on first halt, swatted butt, started again, fine. Bumped on first inside fig 8, correction, 2nd fine. Rushed ahead on 2nd outside one. Lovely drop on recall and broad jump. Dumbell landed close to jump in retrieve over high and he was careful to be sure to jump. Utility I held the food over his head and got more head up on heeling. The rest was very nice - the worst he did was come in 1-2 steps on second go back. He stuck the moving stand and I threw him a cookie for the go to heel. Did #1 glove.

July 30 - Yorba Reg. Worked on abouts with his head up and staying tight, finishes without forging, directed jumping, gloves - needed work on fronts. Articles in a pile of leaves - no problem - left turns working on head up and tapping rear leg in, slows with head up and rod tapping him back. Moving stand he decided he couldn't remember to go straight to heel (maybe because my shoulder is still bad) so had to tap him in. Signals were fine, then did another moving stand which was fine except he didn't come in very briskly, so did a couple of them throwing food. Set up a wagon wheel and did it each way, then did the no-no drill.
July 29 - Marks. Did a longish full course over and over, trying to get him to quit going off into space at different points. He really needs to start taking responsibility for staying on course without me having to continually babysit him.
July 27 - Wendy. Agility working on speed, some attention heeling, signals, moving stand, finishes.
July 25 - agility trial. Good Jumpers run until third to last jump - dropped bar. Wouldn't have been any points anyway. Standard was going fine until he came off the teeter as I rear crossed - huh??? I always rear cross!!! Wasn't able to go to the trial the next day as my left shoulder gave out.
July 24 - More work on Aframe, two jumps and tire in backyard.
July 23 - More work on Aframe in backyard, with two jumps and the tire. Yorba Reg. Drop on recall then straight recalls, moving stand, signals, broad jump, offset retrieves over the high jump with really tight close throws, figure 8 focusing on the inside post, glove turns, stays working on him not moving his feet on the sit when I leave off to the side.
July 22 - Robert's house. Ran a full course starting in different places, working on paying attention after Aframe. First half it was hot and he was pokey - after class was over it was much cooler and he was wired and ran hard, but still did well. Did some attention heeling, signals, drops on recall, and moving stands while class was going on.
July 21 - Some attention heeling out front, fronts and finishes in house.
July 20 - More work with Aframe and jumps in back yard in am. Wendy - Attention heeling, go backs, signals. Agility.
July 19 - Aframe to jump to tire in back yard. Sometimes this --->

and sometimes this --->

July 18 - Park in San Marcos. Some attention heeling, finishes working on not forging, signals with cookie after each one, go backs, moving stands, one choose to heel, one down stay with cookies right there. Nice work esp considering heat.
July 16 - Prado. Land and water marks thrown by Al, with one land blind. On the first water mark he moved way right to island hop, so repeated it with the collar on.

Tiny flowers and tiny fish at Prado.
July 15 - Attention heeling out front, fronts in front of mirror with new front box ala Lance.
July 12 - Prado. Land and water singles with blinds. Need to work on initial lines.
July 11 - Downey match. Really nice Open run. Gave Go Dog about 1/2 hour before, did backwards order and the whole thing was nice except some forged finishes and he didn't quite hit front on the broad. Utility just did directed jumping, moving stand and heeling/signals. Had him get the flat duck on first go back, rest was fine. Moving stand he stuck, then sniffed the ground on the first exam, moved towards the judge on the second try and finally got it right on the third try. Heeling he couldn't hit the first halt until the fourth try! The judge thought I was slamming it. The rest was fine.
July 9 - Prado. Two water triples with blinds, honors.
July 8 - ASC mini seminar on tracking. Got to work 2 short tracks. Also did some attention heeling, signals and moving stands.
July 6 - Wendy. Heeling, agility.
July 5 - Mt Sac agility. We got him too hot and tired before Standard so he was slow and blah. Did the "off in space" thing after the A frame again - all told he had two refusals, & one dropped bar. Jumpers he did a nice job on a hard course, and Q'd for 3rd MXJ leg but no MACH points as he was just barely under time. Prado. Land & water blinds with white showing so he will look out and focus again. Land triple and water double.
July 4 - Mt Sac agility. Not hot enough before Standard for him to be under control. Did pretty well until he overshot the jump after the A frame, then a few obstacles later he fell off the dog walk. Jumpers he was a little flat and I was a little lost but we did Q for 2nd MXJ leg and his first 4 MACH points. Did some attention heeling around the rings and some teeter at home.

July 3 - Mt Sac agility. Decent standard run, listened well, 2 seconds under time even tho I held him on the contacts. Dropped a bar on the triple after the chute. Jumpers was clean but a little slow because he was a little too hot. Made time for first MXJ leg but no MACH pts.
July 2 - More teeter, little bit of attention heeling.
July 1 - Teeter contacts out front, fronts and finishes

June 29 - Wendy. Heeling, agility.
June 23 - MT. Going to try Utility without Go cookie as he seems rather up enough already. Worked signals, fronts and finishes before. Nice run. Walked in on 1st article because the pile was really close, and walked in on moving stand, after he'd moved both front paws when I turned around. I imagine he walked in because I glared at him for moving... Otherwise it seemed spot on. Ended up with 195 and 1st for 10 pts. Open was fine, probably 1/2 point front on broad, retrieve on high jump and retrieve on flat. On retrieve on flat he looked at a piece of tape briefly after picking up the dumbell. Nice drop on recall, decent to good heeling except sloppy figure 8. 195 to finish UDX.

June 22 - MT. Worked attention heeling, signals, #3 glove turn, fronts and finishes in and next to show building in am. Utility - nice run up to directed jumping. He had had one Go cookie so was a little high. He bowed, hesitated and then went down on signal down but articles, glove and moving stand were very nice. On first go out he looked like he was looking at/for something a little to the left at the end of the ring, and then when I said to jump the high on the right he went over to where glove #3 had been, looked briefly, looked up and saw me and finally jumped. Ended up with 194 and 1st for 10 pts. Open - he did pretty well, mostly ticky tack stuff, still fairly up from the one Go cookie. Worked stays before hand and he was very solid. 192.5 and 9th UDX leg.
June 21 - MT. Utility - 1/2 point off on glove #3 turn then he messed with it a bit, heeling was nice until the end when he went wide on about and forged on stand. Directed jumping the turns could've been better. Perfect moving stand, one bad front on articles. 194.5 tied for 2nd but lost run off so 3rd for 1 pt. Open - heeling was messy with a no sit on first halt, tho figure 8 was pretty good. Drive by on drop on recall which was too bad as the drop was really nice. Sticky on retrieve on flat, went around jump on the way out on retrieve over high and landed on the last board on the broad - nice front tho. Stays were perfect. No Go cookies all day. Did some go backs on collar at motel, and later did some fronts, finishes, turns, one moving stand and recalls from a down.
June 20 - Attention heeling in hall, fronts, finishes, turns, moving stand.
June 19 - Attention heeling in motel hall for dinner, fronts, finishes, moving stand, signals, glove turns.
June 17 - O.E. Just did heeling, had Marcia and Liz each call a pattern. The first one was nice enough tho not much attention, the second one was really nice. Did some signals, glove turns and one drop on recall outside of ring.
June 16 - Norco. Hot & muggy, no Go cookies. Did pretty well considering - Robert called Utility and Open runthrus. On signals he shook after I gave down signal then sat so got correction on that. He also started to walk in on second article so told him No, Hurry and he did. Bunch of sloppy finishes. Stays - he went down at the very end of second sit.
June 14 - Bahia Sur. Utility was so nice, only real error was slow sit on first halt, probably my fault. Go back sits could have been better. 196.5, 2nd place, 1/2 point behind Kyle. Open not so good. Did sit on recall, heeling fairly sloppy - first two halts he was slow to sit, and second halt he forged then stood until I said sit. Beautiful broad, nice retrieves on flat and over high jump. Stays he stood up almost right after I got out of sight, then started to slowly walk across the ring. Didn't do down.
June 13 - CHAOS match. Stays - just fine, then gave 1 Go cookie. Open - ticked leading board on broad and icky front, repeated it and front not much better. Retrieve over high jump & retrieve on flat fine, nice drop on recall, heeling pretty good. Lots for forged finishes and abouts not too good. Gave another Go cookie. Utility was very nice, just minor errors. Went to Bahia Sur and did Utility only which was rather nice, just minor errors.
June 11 - Yorba Reg. Kind of blah at first. Did gloves, articles, offset retrieve over high jump. Dana called a heeling pattern and said it looks like I am stepping into him on halts when I bring my feet together. When I stop with them apart it looks fine. Stays
June 9 - Norco. Open Robert called. Had a no sit in heeling so got a great correction in. Nice drop on recall, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high and broad. Stays he fell for Ann playing with a toy and got up on sit, so another great correction in. Then did another sit while the other dogs were doing a down. Ann called Utility which was very nice except he over turned on glove #1 again, and walked in on the first article (it was fairly hot by then and he had no Go cookies). I just told him to hurry and he was fine on the second article.
June 8 - Wendy - directed jumping with flat duck, broad, offset retrieves over high jump, moving stand with me saying Stand Your Dog without stopping. Kelly called a heeling pattern and did one moving stand - I stood him way after Kelly said to and Dodger didn't hesitate. Agility.
June 7 - CCRCSC match. Worked him some in Rally ring as "test" and since it was hot and muggy, he started out blah. Also had no warmup. Did some heeling later and he was MUCH better.
June 6 - Norco match. Utility #1 - very nice heeling, *slight* move forward on signal drop, excellent articles, over turned on glove #1 nice after correction, slight anticipation to stand on judges command, first turn and sit very nice, second a *bit* sloppy so I corrected it. Open - hot by then so he didn't want to heel and ended up doing it holding his ear the whole way. Nice figure 8 without ear, slowish drop, started sightseeing on retrieve on flat so corrected it, lovely retrieve over high and really nice broad. Agility #1 - not listening very well so got several corrections. I had only walked it once so I didn't have much of a plan before I ran it so that might be why he was so bad. Gave 2 Go cookies. Utility #2 - again very nice heeling then sat on drop signal, on second article he went back to recheck the pile for some reason while holding the right one. ?? *Nice* glove, anticipated moving stand again so had Patty say Stand Your Dog three times before I signaled him, nice directed jumping - sent him for flat duck the last time. Agility #2 - very nice tho slower due to being hot and tired. Stays - he got up to leave ring on sit so got serious correction - perfect after that.
June 5 - out front. One correction at very beginning then great heeling and figure 8. One drop on recall, one straight recall, signals, worked on fixing get close finish.
June 4 - Petco. Really nice heeling, signals, one moving stand, one drop on recall and one straight recall, glove turns.
June 3 - Heeling out front and in house, fronts, finishes, worked on straight sits on halts.
June 2 - Norco. Got hot as morning went on. Two Go cookies. Go backs to duck toy, retrieve on flat, finishes, figure 8. Pauline called heeling which was quite nice after early correction. Stays. Ann did a moving stand. Mike called Open - he is butting out on finishes but tried quite hard considering how hot it was by then.
June 1 - Wendy. Go backs to duck toy, recalls, one drop on recall, retrieve over high jump, retrieve on flat. Wendy called a heeling pattern - I had left hand down and treat in my mouth. Very nice except still forging on slow and butt out on halts. Agility.

May 31 - Rick called heeling pattern out front, again very good after correction and leaving left hand down. One recall & one drop on recall.
May 30 - Rick called heeling with figure 8 out front. Did well after one fairly heavy correction, and with left hand down. Stays in house with Proxy.
May 29 - Attention heeling with figure 8 out front.
May 28 - Yorba Reg. Attention heeling, broad, offset retrieves over high jump, retrieve on flat, signals, go backs to duck toy without sits, recalls without drops, articles, gloves. Kathy called a heeling pattern - very nice. Stays.
May 26 - Butterfield. Attention heeling around toys and next to baby gates, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high, broad, directed jumping with duck toy at post, signals, moving stand, stays. Tracys - attention heeling, go backs, Kathy called some heeling, teeter, weaves.
May 25 - Agility. Really nice Standard run - I was sure he was in down contact on A frame and released him, but he wasn't - grr. Jumpers had a hard opening sequence which he got, then for some reason as I sent him to the next jump he stopped and sniffed (because I'd kicked a pebble and he thought it was food??). I said, probably loudly, what are you doing? Go Jump! and got whistled off. The judge was rather nasty about it - typical agility attitude - forced fun.
May 24 - Agility. Second AX leg with First place and 5 seconds under time. Really nice run. Jumpers he was again too hot and tired, & I messed up a hard sequence. Did some nice attention heeling, moving stands and finishes.

May 23 - Agility. Standard was much better tho he missed #2 for some reason. Had him out in sun prior and he was under much better control. Did some training after that - attention heeling, very nice. Jumpers he was a little too hot and tired as he was slow but he listened and ran clean tho 5+ secs over course time. 4th place, AXJ title. Artesia - more attention heeling, one drop on recall and two straight recalls, retrieves on flat working on fronts, one set of signals, go backs, one moving stand.
May 22 - Agility. Out of control in Standard - it was a pretty hard course anyway. I screwed up Jumpers because I listened to Wendy on how to lead out instead of going with what I thought would work, so he had a refusal. The rest of the course was really nice - sigh. Worked some attention heeling before Jumpers - very nice - and some finishes.
May 21 - Out front, attention heeling, jump to teeter.
May 20 - In house, attention heeling, go backs working on tight turn and sit. Out front, did a heeling pattern and figure 8 - really nice! - drops on recall and straight recalls, one go back, teeter.
May 19 - Attention heeling out front, figure 8, one go back with nice turn and sit, contact work on teeter. Tracy's - attention heeling with distractions, stays, figure 8, drops on recall, one set of signals.
May 18 - Attention and turns, inside and out front.
May 17 - ASCA. Even more hot. Went down on sit after about a minute. Worked sit stay under EZ Up and got in two corrections. On individuals took treats in to try to get heads up heeling but I think it was too hot. Heeling was pretty good anyway tho he sniffed in the evil corner. Rest was nice and he actually hit front on broad because I stood in about the center. Ticked high and was going to walk in on retrieve on flat but I told him to hurry. Go cookie may have not been given far enough ahead. Did some attention work several times during the day. Both Regular agility runs were nice - first one I think he thought I said No when I said Go Jump as he got pissy for a minute but otherwise did well. 1st place on both to finish RSN. Jumpers run he did very well, the only reason he didn't win is I was in the wrong place when he came out of the tunnel. 2nd place and JSN title.

May 16 - ASCA. Pretty hot. Did very little warmup tho did give a Go cookie between stays and individuals. Tried pretty hard considering heat, tho he is still not wanting to sit on first halt. 196.5, 3rd place. Did some heeling corrections on the way into stays and to set up for individuals. First Regular agility run he was out of control, probably because I'd just hosed him down. Second one was much better, 1st leg, 3rd place. Nice Jumpers run, 1st leg 2nd place.
May 15 - Fronts from odd angles and heeling setups & starts in house. More heeling out front, drops on recall, stays.
May 14 - Yorba Reg. Open runthru without stays. Extra heeling.
May 13 - Retrieves on the flat in house focusing on fronts, heeling out front for only promise of cookies just before dinner, finishes in house.
May 12 - Heeling, figure 8, drops on recall out front.
May 11 - Wendy. Open runthru without stays, extra heeling, agility, broads with barrier to get fronts.
May 10 - Camillia Capital. Heeling at setup, some go backs to work on fast turn and sit.
May 5 - Rick called heeling out front, then fronts inside with rods.
May 4 - Wendy. Heeling, broad, fronts, drops on recall, retrieves on flat with blue dumbell. Wendy called heeling twice while I insisted on attention.
May 3 - UKC. Trial #1 Sat on down signal otherwise not bad tho his fronts could be better. #2 still a little flat and he took wide turns on all 3 go backs, plus sloppy heeling. Finished U-UD.

May 2 - UKC. Trial #1 blew second glove, probably because I flashed the signal. He was blah & distracted anyway. #2 we Q'd and he was a little more animated but he kept going to the judge after a retrieve (because of her black pants??). He also walked in after articles both times and couldn't hit a front or a finish to save his life!
May 1 - UKC gloves out front several times.

Apr 30 - Yorba Reg. UKC Utility runthru; extra gloves, go backs with sits, heeling with food, one broad, couple of retrieves on flat with blue dumbell.
Apr 29 - UKC gloves and recalls out front.
Apr 22 - CCRCA. Utility - ring apparently covered in smells - he kinda wandered sideways after getting the right article, then stood, then decided to come in. Rest was just nickle and dime which was damn good since I was completely flat by then. 192 & 1st (only entry). Open the individuals were about a 193 then he barked on both the sit & down so 189 for 2nd and High Combined.
Apr 21 - CCRCA. Excellent standard did very well esp considering he'd been in the car for two days. Only knocked one bar and otherwise listened well, ran fast and clean. Jumpers he knocked #2 bar because I didn't babysit it long enough, rest of the run was really nice and he got lots compliments.
Apr 19 - Lewiston. Really nice Utility run except no sit on second halt and no sit on 2nd go back. Moved on exam on moving stand again. 179 (ouch!). Didn't do Open as it was time to leave for St Louis.
Apr 18 - Lewiston. Worked signals and moving stand outside building a couple of times. 1/2 pt off directed jumping (probably wide turn before sit), 1/2 point off leather article, 2 1/2 pts off signals. Heeling was a little forge-y and distracted, and the signal front was off. Otherwise he tried quite hard. Amazing, no points off for glove as he was mouthing. 196.5 2nd place, High in Sporting Group. Open - Really nice except sit on recall - only one point off otherwise (!), on heeling/Fig 8 - except he tried to leave the ring on the down stay, probably because I was talking while out of sight.

Apr 17 - Lewiston. Way high in Utility after being in the car for two days, blew sit signal, one driveby on directed jumping, moved quite a bit on exam in Moving Stand. Open - 1 pt off broad (better front than usual), 1/2 point off heeling and fig 8, 1/2 point off drop on recall, 1/2 point off retrieve over high jump. 197.5, 1st place and High in Trial. Worked on signals and moving stand at motel.

Apr 14 - Norco. Utility run thru with cat food jackpot after signals. Open runthru with jackpot again. Some work on better fronts after jumping using ball on rope. Stays. Prado - land blind.
Apr 13 - Wendy. Heeling, utility runthru except articles, broad, drop on recall, rally, agility.
Apr 12 - Prado. Long land blind over scent from marks, fine. Water double then blind up the middle, very nice.
Apr 9 - Tracy's. Heeling mostly working on attention with rod. Kathy called Utility, was rather nice except I actually had to push his nose to get him to quit moving forward when told to stay on moving stand. Need to fix my footwork on abouts. She called Open, better abouts, did well even tho he was hot and tired. Need to work on fronts. Prado - long water blinds on T ponds, land blinds with something he had to jump over on the way.
Apr 7 - Norco. Ann called Open, just minor things off. On stays I sat behind him so I could correct feet moving and hip rolling. She called Utility too, it was hot by then. Nice turn and sits, fronts were slightly off about 50% of the time, finishes mostly nice, excellent moving stand, glove turns could be better. Worked of set retrieves to fronts at home and practiced about turns.
Apr 6 - Wendy. Heeling, signals, moving stand, drops on recall, figure 8, broad, stays, agility.
Apr 4 - Lab test. Flyer single on land with walkup that we honored, no problem. Then land double - messy handle on memory bird probably because I didn't point at it with the gun as it went down. Flyer no problem, tho he wanted to mess with it. Honoring double no problem, rather nice difficult blind thru a keyhole. Dropped.
Apr 3 - Prado. Land blinds.
Apr 2 - Yorba Reg. Heeling, drops on recall, broad jump fronts, signals, retrieves on flat, stays, broad jumps with box, offset retrieves over high.
Apr 1 - Prado. Land & water blinds, one honor.

Mar 29 - NAHRA. Land double fine - bit of hunt on memory. Land blind fine, could've held initial line a big longer. Nice quarter. Flyer on water double fell out of winer, then they had to catch and throw it, then sluice it. He managed to stay thru all of that and did fine. Nice water blind except he popped when he realized he was going into fast water. Almost perfect trail. Finished WR.

Mar 28 - Lake County. 1st Utility with 192.5, 4 points. Kinda lackluster with off fronts but nice heeling. Sniffed on 1st sit on go outs, moved twice on moving stand. Open - I worked broad front outside ring just before we went in so he tip toed thru the jump and hit front beautifully. Sigh Otherwise not bad except I set up to the left on retrieve over high to see if I could get a better front and the dumbell rolled way left, so he came back around the jump. I put cheese in my hand for heeling and it might have made a difference? Only lost 1 1/2 pts on heeling and fig 8. Went down on sit about 2 minutes, got up on down to sniff a dog that was rolling towards him. Did 4 or so trails in the back 40 during lunch.
Mar 27 - TriValley. Didn't drop on drop on recall, otherwise Open was kinda messy anyway. 2nd Utility with 195, overall it was much better!
Mar 26 - out front. Go backs to baby gates with cones, faster sits, heeling, drop on recall, signal drops.
Mar 25 - out front. Go backs to baby gates with cones, also working on faster sits. Heeling, signal downs, figure 8, sit stay while I put trash cans up, drop on recall. O.E. - Marcia called Utility - nice directed jumping, moving stand, little mouthing on glove, nice heeling but only sat on down signal again, got wrong first article.
Mar 24 - Norco. Retrieve on flat working on no mouthing, drop on recall working on fronts, broad jumps working on fronts, heeling. Pauline called Utility - turns to articles were 1/2 pt off, and a little forging on slow, plus didn't drop on signal down. Need to work go backs to baby gates as he isn't focusing on anything directly ahead. Otherwise he seemed to do well despite the heat. Set up baby gates at home with cones so he had to go straight.
Mar 23 - Wendy. Heeling, signals, moving stand, go backs with white can offset from middle post, drops on recall working on front, retrieve on flat working on mouthing.
Mar 22 - GSD trial. Utility - went to post left of center on second go back and slow sit on halt, otherwise nice. 194 1st place, 2 pts. Open - nice! heeling, driveby on drop on recall & another poor front on broad. Got up on sit - because dogs went nuts in a crate near where we were hiding?

Mar 21 - GSD trial. Utility really nice! Tried hard, up the whole time except very beginning of heeling. Moved both back feet at beginning of exam on moving stand. Judge held signals and he really wanted to break but didn't. 1st w/194 because Kyle flunked. Open not so good - I guess using Heel doesn't work as he didn't sit on 1st halt and sat slow w/butt out on 2nd. Rolling dumbell and finishes not as good. Front on broad awful. 192 & 2nd - would have been 197 without heeling issues. High Combined.
Mar 19 - Prado. Water blinds on dike pond, quartering. Yorba Reg - heeling, turns, signal drops, one set of signals, finishes, butt swat for go backs.
Mar 18 - At home in front of mirror - fronts, finishes, drops, turns, starts. OE - Judy called heeling - pretty good - also did moving stand. Later articles, gloves, directed jumping, more heeling, signals, another moving stand.
Mar 17 - Out front, about 73 degrees, using bread crusts. Heeling, figure 8, signals, one recall, extra signa downs, moving stand. Did rather well for being warm. Fronts and finishes in front of mirror later.
Mar 16 - Wendy. Heeling, then with her calling - except for one no sit, nice. Directed jumping, moving stand with her massaging, articles, gloves, drop on recall.
Mar 15 - Prado. Land triple with Rick, Hayden and Hamilton throwing, which he had a lot of trouble with for some reason. Long water blinds over dike between big lake and long lake. Some heeling for cheese crispys.
Mar 14 - out front, Rick calling heeling and figure 8 for pieces of steak, he got much better as we went along. Also, signals, recalls, one random drop, Rick did moving stand.
Mar 13 - out front, heeling for pieces of steak.
Mar 12 - Prado. Land blinds next to big lake. Yorba - land blinds next to park, heeling, glove turns, moving stand, directed jumping, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high jump, broad, recalls without drops.
Mar 11 - out front. Heeling, signals, figure 8, moving stand. More fronts and moving stands inside plus some signal drops and one drop on recall.
Mar 10 - Norco. Heeling in the ring with Rich calling, very nice. Again with Robert calling and again very nice, also signals, couple of moving stands (trying to anticipate coming to heel). go backs and one set of jumps, stays. Got pinch back from Noble and worked on pairing slight tug with treats. Worked more on it at home.
Mar 9 - Wendy. Force to come, heeling, one moving stand, one set of signals, agility.
Mar 7 - Hills Ferry. No problem with land triple that many had big hunts or handles on, land blind was fine until he was right there, and went out of sight and I lost control. Not really his fault since he had to go out of sight to get the blind, he was just a little too far to the right to wind it in there. Crept on marks.
Mar 5 - Prado. Long water blinds on Freds, land triple with Cindy, Hamilton and wipe out on launcher.
Mar 4 - Prado. Two close together land blinds, one quarter.
Mar 3 - Norco. Laura called heeling and figure 8 and he did rather well. Also did moving stand and he didn't move at all. Did some go backs with rewards and a couple of jumps. One signal drop and one drop on recall. Heeled in heat after stays for canned cat food - pretty good. Did heeling out front for steak pieces with Rick calling.
Mar 2 - Terv agility. Jumpers - tough course, some sloppiness but he listened and Q'd for 2nd AXJ leg and 1st place. Worked attention several times and he seems to be getting it.
Mar 1 - Terv agility. Standard - he was nuts, missed turn into tunnel because I wasn't far enough down and didn't emphasize the turn. He then tripped me after the tunnel and I went down. Did really nice attention heeling near ring before. Prado - land , water, land blinds at Gordy's. Match - Utility heeling nice, I messed up the down signal, he got wrong leather article, nice glove tho a bit of a look around right after he picked it up, nice moving stand, very nice directed jumping. Open - very nice heeling and figure 8, I messed up drop signal again, rest very nice with just one 1/2 point front and one 1 point finish.

Feb 28 - Terv agility. Did some attention heeling next to rings. Jumpers - I was too close to jump 2 on start and he got behind me - saved it but then when I rear crossed #6 he pulled towards me and missed #7. Also missed weave entrance because I wasn't caring. After that, lovely run. Did Advanced/Excellent rally at match, had food, had times of really nice attention despite heat, faded at end. Fronts and finishes at home.

Feb 27 - Terv agility. Nice run, listened well on tough course, 1st AX leg with 1st place. Did some attention heeling near rings, moving stand with Kelly going over him, more moving attention at home our front, fronts.
Feb 26 - Prado. Long water blinds with quite a bit of suction. Did attention heeling next to Dike pond with cat food on tailgate, and me carrying french fries - started out so so and went to great. One set of signals.
Feb 25 - Marks. Worked on full courses, worked contacts by putting half a treat on next to last slat, pointing as he came down and then saying Find It. Did some attention heeling in and out of ring. Worked Yes with distractions at home.
Feb 24 - Prado. Worked on better water entries and avoiding cheatieng.
Feb 23 - Wendy. Agility, attention heeling, some fast drops, massage exams.
Feb 22 - LV NAHRA. Trail fine, land double memory bird was check down and I overdid sending him quiet again, so he sort of ambled out there on the wrong side and kept getting in cover so I handled - did OK. Good quarter, water double fine. Cheated on the way to the memory bird - need to work on that. Water blind he went into the water pussy foot but almost lined it, would have but wanted to suck into reeds so one whistle. Did some attention heeling w/Biljac between water series, nice. 3rd WR leg.

Feb 21 - LV NAHRA. Water double with remote at line, no problem. Water blind initial line was OK then slipped a cast, got right and didn't want to go left but did. Land double with walkup and quarter. Crept a little between birds, and didn't sit all the way down when I told him to. Little bit of playing with birds, quarter was so-so. Trail was very messy, had to be recast. Did trail but didn't pass.
Feb 19 - heeling out front to canned cat food on truck bumper - only so-so. Did again later with me carrying bread crusts and segueing to canned food reward - much better. Also some fronts and signal drops. Inside after dinner did a little moving attention, one come to heel, signals, fast drops.
Feb 18 - Prado. Water double to launchers across Long Lake with blind, trails, one short land blind. Fronts at home.
Feb 17 - little bit of attention heeling out front, more at PetCo, bit more inside in pm, fronts with box.
Feb 16 - some attention heeling out front with bread crusts, fronts and finishes inside.
Feb 15 - Prado. Land double with bumpers with Rick and Hardin throwing, land blind to ducks, quarter with ducks, trails.
Feb 14 - SD Lab. Utility - sniffed as he sat on first go back and hit hi jump (probably slipped on wet grass) but otherwise DJ was nice. Moved all over on exam, nice glove, 1/2 point front and finish on articles, nice heeling except wide on stand and probably moved a foot and some forge/wrap at the end of the slow. Open - not paying attention on broad after landing so poor front, figure 8 1st pass so-so, 2nd pass better, heeling decent, good drop on recall, front on retrieve over high jump off, also on retrieve on flat.
Feb 13 - Little bit of attention heeling out front with bread crusts. PetCo - attention heeling with BilJac (nice), signals, moving stand. Fronts and finishes at home.
Feb 12 - Anaheim. All exercises Open & Utility with fairly obvious food (french fries). Great attitude and work - it was somewhat cold. No stays.
Feb 11 - Butterfield. Heeling, go backs, signal drop, broad jump, stays, drop on recall, wide figure 8s. Prado - land blind off of hand thrown marks, some quartering.
Feb 10 - Norco. Utility runthru with two heeling patterns. 1st one when I had a treat and he knew it was nice, 2nd one needed some attention corrections but was pretty. Otherwise only a couple of off fronts and finishes. Very little warmup. Retrieve on flat and retrieve over high jump focusing on hitting front, broad with X, drop on recall and straight recalls, wide figure 8s, stays twice, more heeling.
Feb 7-8 - Copper State. Land triple with blind and honor, a little messy on middle bird, blind OK. Got up on honor but stayed. Forget middle series, last series was breaking bird mixed triple with a corner of water they were supposed to take, which he did quite well. First MH leg.

Feb 6 - Copper State. Land triple with double blind, no trouble with both outside birds, apparently forgot middle bird, handled, got too far out to hear and picked up. Did some heeling at hotel (after I cleaned out his ears!)
Feb 4 - Prado. Long water blinds and one triple on Freds.
Feb 3 - Norco. Broad with green fence, drop on recall, straight recall, retrieve on flat, retrieve over high jump, signals, moving stand, long go backs, figure 8, stays and lots of heeling.
Feb 2 - heeling for meat in bowl out front, only so-so. Wendy - heeling, signals, moving stand, fronts, finishes, agility.
Feb 1 - Prado. Water triple at Gordy's with two launchers and Rick with pheasants and one blind.

Jan 31 - Prado. Land mark to launcher then 2 blinds, water triple with hand thrown-long launcher-and hand thrown, and two blinds. Little bit of heeling and one moving stand.

Jan 25 - Little bit of attention and turn work in seminar parking lot, one front, couple finishes. Prado - land and water, and land/water blinds, one water triple.
Jan 24 - turns, fronts, finishes, starts.
Jan 23 - OE match. Louise called Open and says that he is forging a little on start ups and turns, esp lefts, and finishes. Otherwise he was up and tried hard, particularly on fronts. Still need to work on not cutting corner on broad tho was better. Worked fronts, finishes and turns at home.
Jan 22 - Prado. Land blinds with and without marks, same on water. Kathy M - attention heeling, signals, articles, moving stand, recall, drop on recall, directed jumping, broad, stays, lots of fronts and finishes.
Jan 21 - Little attention work out front, fronts. Petco - attention heeling with rewards while moving, signals, one straight recall and one drop on recall, two moving stands.
Jan 20 - For dinner - recalls, fronts, finishes, heeling, inside and out front.
Jan 19 - Wendy. Attention heeling, fronts, finishes, agility.
Jan 18 - AZ Dobe. Open 3rd 194.5, just nickel and dime stuff, mostly finishes. Utility, 192 - both fronts and finishes. He tried hard overall, and it was warm in Utility. He stood for a couple/three seconds on 2nd halt and moved feet 3X on moving stand. 5th UDX leg and 18 OM points.

Jan 17 - AZ Dobe. Utility - won runoff for 3rd with 195. He worked hard and tried, only real error was he almost anticipated drop signal. Open - 192 due to driveby on drop on recall - would have been 197. Almost cut corner on broad but tried hard to get front, rest was nice except sloppy halts on heeling. 4th UDX leg and 21 OM points.
Jan 16 - front ring. Attention heeling, signals.
Jan 15 - front ring. Attention heeling, signals, moving stand. CHAOS - warmup then Open (no stays) and Utility runthrus with hot dogs in mouth and jackpot of canned cat food. Very nice, a little too up, offering attention.
Jan 14 - front ring. Attention heeling with hot dogs to jackpot of canned cat food, signals, moving stand, go backs.
Jan 13 -Norco. Windy so no ring set up. Attention heeling, signals, articles, moving stand, go backs, drop on recall. Set out a launcher and did long retrieves, and blinds off of marks.
Jan 12 - Wendy. Attention heeling near agility equipment, Lauren, Wendy and Margaret. Did runthru with o treats until heeling (last) and treated after signals. Is trying to fix fronts. Agility.
Jan 11 - HVOC match. Pam called Utility and we did backwards order. No treats until come to heel on moving stand when I threw one behind me. Had semi obvious treat on heeling - he didn't do great attention but must have been watching as the heeling itself was pretty good. Offset fronts on retrieving exercises. Whole thing was pretty nice. Open - Pete judged. Did backwards order - nice broad, high, retrieve, drop - treated drop. Nice figure 8 with much praise, worked attention on heeling and had it nicely at end.
Jan 10 - attention heeling for dinner.
Jan 9 - Butterfield. Attention heeling, started a little slow then was really nice. Signals, articles, broad with barrier (nice), left turns and abouts with rod, comes without drops, go backs working on no banana and tight turn for sit - only jumped once and got lovely front. Finishes are off on directed jumping tho. Moving stand, stays.
Jan 8 - In house. Moving attention with visible hot dog in my left hand being really strict on constant attention, one drop on recall with thrown food, one signal stand. Did more attention heeling out front with obvious bread crust which may not be a good enough treat but he did rather well. Had to stop twice and wait while he got over himself but otherwise he quickly corrected lack of attention when I AH'd. Also did a couple of signal stands, signal drops with thrown food and random drops with thrown food. Yorba Reg - attention heeling with food in mouth - really nice. He may have been reacting negatively to my hand down? Retrieve on flat, articles, gloves, moving stand, figure 8, comes without drops, stays.
Jan 7 - Front ring. Worked attention heeling holding his dinner in bowl - great attention of course. I worked him with visible hot dog in kitchen, front room, porch & house sidewalk, and focused on any looking away, saying ACH until he looks then YAY. Seemed to work but then we are home...
Jan 6 - Norco. Open with Robert calling with bait belt. Needed to hold ear thru most of heeling but at least he didn't drag back. Figure 8 without ear and was rather nice. Other than that just a couple of 1/2 point fronts/finishes. Broad was really nice. Did drop on recall with thrown food. Stays we worked on not moving feet sideways on sit a lot and emphasized not rolling butt on down - I didn't go out of sight. Did some work throwing treat behind me on moving stand to get speed from the start. Utility with Robert calling still needs ear on heeling - worked some more on it outside ring while Larry was in ring and it looks like he responds better to me rolling food in my mouth. Everything else was nice. He fell for Robert calling the kitty next to the articles, didn't anticipate moving stand on judges command. Worked drop on recall and he started anticipating the drop so worked on that.
Jan 5 - Ring out front. Attention heeling, one signal stand and drop, figure 8. Wendy - attention heeling around agility equipment, is doing much better about maintaining attention with fewer corrections. Agility.
Jan 4 - Cocker agility. Standard he did 2 jumps, hit A frame and tho he did stop at the top he jumped over the down contact despite much STAY!!!! Did tunnel, jump (knocked bar), tunnel, dog walk (hit contact) but came off of it before I got there. When I tried to set him up for the weaves he got the zoomies so bad I could barely catch him. Rick threw about 15 minutes worth of bumpers before jumpers and he was MUCH better - only error was mine. He really wanted to be out of control but managed to hold on. At home worked attention heeling in front ring, signal stand and drop, come to heel on moving stand, two drops on recall, figure 8, 360 abouts.
Jan 3 - Ring out front. Attention heeling, moving stand, signal stand, figure 8. Inside - signal stand & drop, more come to heel quickly with Rick swatting his butt a couple of times. Went out to front ring again later and did more attention heeling, lefts with "back" & "close" and 360° abouts.
Jan 2 - Cocker agility. COLD. Broke start line in standard to the point that he had passed around 1st jump so I picked him up. Had done some attention work prior which was very nice. Jumpers he held the start line until I raised my hand and even then he just stood up. Missed weave entrance and started making noise about then, didn't do a jump so I stopped him and shook my finger at him, good for 4 jumps and a tunnel then had to pick him up for not listening. He may be getting the idea, but the cold may be too much for him to keep self control. At home did signal stand & drop, one drop on recall, moving attention, fronts, finishes, turns, one come to heel from stand.
Jan 1 - Palm Springs match. Bonnie called Utility. Heeling is getting better for attention - I had food but it wasn't really useable as I forgot to bring bait that would stick to the bail belt. Had one offset front, rest of run was nice. Stays nice except he wanted to curve in front of me when going down. Went into Open without a "judge" his heeling was better tho he wanted to do just checking in rather than real attention. Repeated drop on recall as he traveled an awful lot on first one. Lovely jump and front on broad. Did some extra heeling after the rest of the exercises.
