Charwin Curly Coated Retrievers

Charwin-bred Curlies have won the following from the national club -

* Sire of Top Curly in 1988, 2001 & 2002
* Dam of Top Curly in 1990, 1991, 1992 & 1994
* Breeder of the Year - 1990
* Top Obedience dog - 1986, 2002, 2004 & 2005, plus Charwin owned/trained/handled dogs won it 7 other times.
* Best of Winners trophy - 1991
* Top Field dog - 1991, 1996, 2000, 2001 (co-winner), 2002 & 2005. We are the only breeders to win this trophy with four different dogs!
* Top Agility dog - 2009

All of this accomplished with a VERY limited breeding program - only 18 litters in 30 years.

Established in 1975, our goal is to produce Curlies that can do well in any dog sport; no other breeder in the US can come close to our record for producing winners in multiple venues. We also expect superb temperaments, high trainability and excellent health - we don't always get it all in one package but we keep trying! Located in sunny Southern California, we are a small operation with generally no more than four adults living here and no co-owned dogs or co-bred litters. Rarely more than one litter a year and usually less than that!

Currently, Charwin-bred Curlies hold 225 titles from 18 litters, a total of 103 individual dogs:

 * 43 Chs, including 8 Group placers and 2 National Specialty BOB winners.
* 64 obedience titles, including three all breed High In Trial winners and the breed's fourth & fifth Obedience Trial Champions
* 29 agility titles
* 66 field titles - the first WCX, WCQ, SR, JH, WR, SH, MHR or GMHR Curly; & 4 CCRCA Field Trophy winners, including the only 3 time winner
* 7 ROMs, 3 ROMXs and 6 HOF
 * 7 CGC/TT/TDI

This despite the fact that most of our pups go to working/pet homes where they never earn a title other than loving companion and/or "huntin' dawg". Of the Charwin bred dogs who have actually competed, they have an average of over 5 titles each!
